Challenge Summary

Welcome to TopCoder Innovation Summit Post Card Design Contest! Innovation Summit is held annually during the TopCoder Open event. For this year, the event will focus on stories in venturing with a cause, and with how the distinguished guests are literally changing the world. 

For this contest, your task is to design a marketing material of 1 Post Card in both side (front and back) to help promote the annual Innovation Summit at the 2013 TopCoder Open. 

Round 1

1) Initial submission design with all the features mentioned in the Requirement section. 
2) Any note for the client about your submission
3) Number your submission (01, 02, 03, etc...) for easy client's review

Primary Goal & Design Considerations
The primary goal of this contest is to design 1 Post Card with the features outlined below. 

Requirements

1. Sizes:
- 4 inches by 6 inces with 1/4 inch bleed 
- file resolution should be 300dpi minimum
- you can use the provided templates as the base of your artwork

2. Colors:
- all colors should be in CMYK for digital print
- keep the gradients to a minimum level

3. Post Card Content (Front Side):
- must include Innovation Summit logo
- must include TopCoder logo
- title is: Innovation Rebels with a Cause
- content will be:
Join us at our annual Innovation Summit at the 2013 TopCoder Open
November 11-12, 2013 at the Capital Hilton, Washington DC

Including speakers: Angela Maiers, Jack Andraka, Jason HeadSetsDotCom, & Andrew McAfee
The event will be focused on stories of venturing into the unknown and how our distinguished guests are literally changing the world. 

4. Post Card Content (Back Side):
- must include a QR code (small and in the bottom corner)
- an empty area of about 2 inches high by 3.75 inches in length for the stamp and addressing, this will be on the right side of the design
- content will be: At some point, you will find yourself on the edge of innovation with a decision to make. Come join us at the 2013 TopCoder Innovation Summit, and get prepared to take your leap.

Submission & Source Files
Preview Image
Create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024px JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it. You are free to resize or crop your submission to fit this size, but do not add any filters or elements for dramatic effect, such as drop shadows or reflections.

Submission File
Low resolution JPG or PNG of your layout within the provided template with bleed.

Source Files
All original source VECTOR files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape and saved as layered AI, EPS, or high quality PDF file with 300dpi resolution. 


Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify your graphics, images (sizes or colors) or modify overall colors. 

Please read the challenge specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this challenge. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.

Stock Photography

Stock photography is not allowed in this challenge. All submitted elements must be designed solely by you. See this page for more details.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

Fonts, Stock Photos, and Icons:

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.

Screening:
