Challenge Summary

Welcome to CSFV Website Navigation Redesign Contest. We need you to rethink the main menu of a web page and redesign its icons to be friendlier. Jump in now!

Round 1

For your R1 deliverables please submit screens that cover all the features under “Storyboards Requirements” section.

Round 2

Final design will contain all the requested features under “Storyboards Requirements” section plus any updates from client feedback.

The primary goal of this contest is to redesign the navigation of the CSFV home page. The current navigation looks professional, we like it; however, we’re looking to see something friendlier, open to a wider audience. The challenge is focused on making these icons attractive, neutral and friendlier. We also want to add animation to them, see more information below.

Branding and Guidelines
- The overall look must match the current design. Notice that “Consistency” is part of the judgment criteria for this contest, make it feel the same.
- Navigation.zip contains the existing design of the menu for you to take as guidance.
- Keep the same fonts. If you have any issue with the provided source files fonts just replace those fonts with a regular one (like Arial) and add a note in your submission explaining you made the change. You will be asked to replace those fonts if you become the winner. Declare your fonts according to the Studio font’s policies.
- Colors must match and appeal the current colors from the provided design.
- Show all the hover states for all the navigation items.
- Think of web 2.0 when you’re creating your solution. We want to appeal to teens, and the general population.

Storyboard Requirements
- Add this tagline to the Verigames logo: “Gaming for Good”. You can place it below the logo or somewhere else in the page. We are open to suggestions.
- Redesign the navigation icons to make them friendlier, softer: Home, Games, Achievements, Competitions (Contests, Tournaments), Blog, Forum, Wiki, News, Help (FAQ, Support). We like the current flat-single-color look but we are open to suggestions.
- Make sure to redesign the sub navigation dropdown for Competitions and Help.
- Add a different animation to the hover effect. On the current design, when you hover an icon it displays a simple gray background. We’d like to see some kind of animation with motion, sparkles and all the whistles. Hover any of these navigation items on this page for a sample.
- Notice the current navigation looks tight, that’s another design challenge we need you to solve. We need it to look spaced. Maybe resizing the icons could solve the problem. You are free to propose any kind of modification to solve this problem.

Target Audience
Casual gamers, everyone who likes games from children to adult persons.

Judging Criteria
- Consistency with the current look of the site.
