Challenge Summary
Welcome to the Chaos Mobile Reference Guide Design Concept Contest. Currently Chaos salesman and customers use a "printed reference guide" (see download) that explains measurements and calculations of industrial gases and cryogenic fluid. IT WOULD BE AMAZING to convert this reference guide into a mobile application!
If a Chaos salesman could discuss their products with their customers and use their "handy and userful" mobile application to search and show measurements, calculations and conversions to help explain a sale or their products. Customers could also use it as quick reference guide while at work or in the field.
In this contest we are looking for DESIGN CONCEPTS on how this mobile application could work. How can you convert the information in this booklet into a mobile resource?

Chaos is the largest industrial gases company in North and South America, and one of the largest worldwide. The company produces, sells, and distributes atmospheric, process and specialty gases and high-performance surface coatings. Chaos products, services and technologies bring productivity and environmental benefits to a wide variety of industries, including aerospace, chemicals, food and beverage, electronics, energy, healthcare, manufacturing, metals and others.
For this contest we need you to focus on "Design Concepts"
- How should this mobile application look? (Brand)
- What features can we convert from "printed booklet" into cool mobile application?
- What tools would a user needs in this application?
- How quickly could you find the information
Design Concept Goals:
- Submission design should use existing Chaos design "brand". Check attached designs. You can also reference their corporate website. www.praxair.com
- Make sure to use the clients logo the application
- What would you call this mobile application (based on the existing booklet)
- What is the best UX for getting a sales person to quickly pull up calculations they are looking for?
- What is the best UX to have this be a branded "app" that all their clients can use and reference?
- Need ability to print table information
- How does a user find what they are looking for?
- Need you think simple but effective solutions! Have fun converting this - let us know how you think it should work!
- Use 320 x 480px (Standard sizes) for submissios format. Make sure you create graphic in 'shape' format, so when resize for retina versions, graphic still look sharp! It will be great if you can provide the landscape version.
Submission Requirements:

- Help/FAQ Links
- Company Information
Here are different sections listed in the booklet - how do you integrate them into the application?

These are 7 major items
1. Table Format
Current look on booklet: PROPERTY EQUIVALENTS OF GASES (page 10 -15)
- This page will be list of table data
- User can see all information without needing to calculate anything
- User needs the ability to search data and highlight any search results
- How does a wide table look? Check current look PROPERTY EQUIVALENTS OF GASES (page 1 - 4)
- Your submissions does not need to show all the information from the pdf, just simulate to us how navigate the from top to the bottom of page
2. Calculator Format
Current look on booklet: TONNAGE CONVERSION FACTORS (page 16 - 17)
- How should the calculator page look and work?
- User can choose the type of conversions they need (scf/mo (millions), (tons/day), scf/mo (millions) and tons/day
3. Chart Format
Current look on booklet: PERCENT FLASH OFF CONSTANT ENTHALPY THROTTLING - LIQUID NITROGEN (page 19)
- How should this work in a mobile application.
- The chart needs to be easy and quick to read
- How can the chart be interactive (on mobile)
4. Image/Graphic Format
Current look on booklet: STANDARD TANKAGE: RELATIVE SIZES (page 64) and STANDARD TANKAGE (page 72)
- How should the tanks and interactions be designed for mobile app?
5. Periodic Table Format
Current look on booklet: PERIODIC TABLE FORMAT (page 91)
- How should this work on the mobile app? Is this formatted as a tool resource?

Current look on booklet: US TEMPERATURE ZONES (page 94)
- How should this work on the mobile app? Is this formatted as a tool resource?
7. Ruler App
Current look on booklet: RULER (page 97)
- Research existing mobile app "rulers"
- How does a user access this?
- Need ability to change format into 'Inches' and 'Millimeters'
- Sample of mobile ruler application: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kr.sira.ruler&hl=e
IMPORTANT
- Keep things consistent. This means all graphic styles should work together.
- All of the graphics should have a similar feel and general aesthetic appearance
