Challenge Summary

Welcome to the FAST 48Hr Hercules Field Tech iPad Menu Design Update Contest.

The goal of this contest is to update Menu Flow and Layout of Hercules Field Tech application on iPad version and some requirements based on client sketch design.
We encouraged you to suggest us how the application should designed and also improve the User Experience of existing design for wider screen on iPad screen.

This is only 1 Round Contest.
Submission Phase only 48Hr. Please submit soon! We need final submissions ready at Monday Morning EST!


Hercules building new application of Hercules Field Tech. This app purpose is provide company news/information for their employee. Also dashboard with links to various systems and applications that they will use during their daily work.

Contest task is update top menu on iPad screen, also some requirements from client based on client sketch need capture correctly in your submission design.

IMPORTANT!
- Format your submission like this following structure folder:
- ipad-retina
-- 'portrait' (1536 x 2048)
-- 'landscape' folder (2048 x 1536)
-- 'source' folder
- ipad-standard
-- 'portrait' (768 x 1024)
-- 'landscape' folder (1024 x 768)
-- 'source' folder

For this contest submission, just submit the iPad 'Standard' version on both Portrait and Landscape view. Retina version will be task for contest winner.

Design Requirements:
- Use menu-icons.zipalert-news-search.zip as base of design updates.
- Client provide their design sketch updates, see attachment (Updated iPad Wireframes v3.pdf).This sketch design just a starting point, suggest us better User Experience on your submission.

- Remove top header from page design, arrange the page after header removal.
- Static menu on top show up all the times.
- Match top navigation menu ordering:
-- TechNet
-- Alert & News
-- Tools
-- Knowledge Base
-- Time Entry
-- Customer Education (Create this NEW icon)
-- Feedback
-- Team Comcast
-- Profile
-- Logout
- Re-use existing icons for top navigation menu stated above.
- Apply red badge/indicator to top right corner of Alerts & News menu item if any new items are pushed.

- This will be same solution as page 1 applied to landscape view

- When Tools menu button is selected, sub-bar menu to be displayed under menu bar
- Add horizontal scrolls to the sub-bar and show an arrow to demonstrate there are more items to see
- Create separate screens with and without the browser navigation.

- This page show when clicked "Knowledge Base" menu.
- Need left sidebar of “Knowledge Base Categories”. How categories looks?
- Click left sidebar link will show on the right side.
- WordPress article placed to the right of the category side bar
- Search bar placed on top of categories and articles. How search result looks?
- Create WordPress navigation footer

- This page show when clicked "Alert/News" menu. need
- Default to grid view, show us how list view looks.
- Place the “alerts” items on top with one row
- Place the “news” items below with three row items
- Add vertical scroll to news and alerts view
- Also need search bar placed on top

Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024px JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it.

Source Files
All original source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator and saved as layered PSD or AI file.

Stock Photography

Stock photography is not allowed in this challenge. All submitted elements must be designed solely by you. See this page for more details.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

Fonts, Stock Photos, and Icons:

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.
