Welcome to the FAST Hercules Field Tech "First Time User Experience" Design Contest.

The goal of this contest is to design the "first time user experience" screens that will help introduce the Hercules Field Tech application to new users. We are providing an initial wireframe of content - we need you to design how this should look and work for the "first time user".

Hercules is building a new application called "Hercules Field Tech". The purpose of this application is to allow Hercules "technicians", that are working in the field the ability to quickly access company tools, applications, news and information. The "Field Tech" application allows a technician the ability to monitor their day-to-day job tasks and quickly provide needed information. 

For this contest we need you to create the "first time user" screens that a new user will see once they download the application. The "first time user" screens help explain to the user how the application works and what features or clicks are available. 

IMPORTANT!
Required submission format:
- iPad Standard
- iPad Retina
- iPhone Standard
- iPhone Retina
Just submit iPad and iPhone Standard version (Portrait view) for our review.

For this contest just submit the iPad and iPhone 'Standard' version on both Portrait and Landscape view. Retina version will be task for contest winner.

Design Requirements:
- Use the provided source files as base of design updates.
- Hercules has provided a quick wireframe of what they are thinking.  see attachment (
Tech Nucleus - FTUE v4.pptx).This wireframe design just a starting point - we are looking for you to design and plan out the user expeirence.

What is the First Time User Experience?
The "first time user experience" (FTUE) are the instructions and screens that a users see's the first time they download and install the application.
These screens will have instructionsl (text) information and icons that help a new user learn about the application and what the different buttons, taps or swipes are needed to use the application.
- On each screen there will be text explaining to the user the different ways they can interarct/user a feature in the application.
- There will be 'Next' button to navigate through the flow - it will be similar to a 1,2,3 step instructional process.
- On the last screen the user will click the 'Get Started' button and it will take them to the User Profile screen
- Suggest better text/copy for the instructions

I. iPad Layout
Step 1

Text: This is your main menu. You can get to all your tools, news and information.

- Use the provided PSD files as your source/reference

Step 3

On your main menu, you can find:
1. Easy access to Tech Net
2. Real-Time Alerts (ie: outages) and News Articles (ie: process change)
3. Your existing set of tools, plus some new ones
4. A product and process knowledgebase
5. How to enter your time
6. Your user profile (important!)

II. iPhone Layout
- Basically FTUE screens flow will be the use same style.
- You need re-create how the iPhone version designed.
- Notice there's difference on left sidebar menu on iPhone version (Check and compare the attach PSD source files for the iPad and iPhone version)

- Download new applications (like USAToday and see how they have the FTUE flow planned out)

Judging Criteria
- How well you create of Hercules Field Tech FTUE flow.
- Cleanliness of your graphics and design
- Overall graphic design and user experience planning
- Consistency with existing style theme.

Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024px JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it.

Source Files
All original source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator and saved as layered PSD or AI file.

Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify your graphics (sizes or colors) or modify overall colors.

Stock Photography

Stock photography is not allowed in this challenge. All submitted elements must be designed solely by you. See this page for more details.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.
