Challenge Overview
To get started, use this HTML��template. We are looking for ideas for new functionality but here's how we see private messaging working for notifications:
1. When you go to a member's profile page, you'll see a link/icon that says something like, "Send Message". When the user clicks the link it will popup up a new window (we already use the jQuery Fancybox plugin for logging in so that would be cool to reuse) where the user can type in a message and possibly a subject. When the form submit the windows will disappear. We'll take care of the interaction with Database.com
2. When you click on the Account section you'll see a "my messages" menu item under "My Stuff". This will be where members can find all of the messages that they've sent and received. Essentially their message inbox.
Here is some functionality that applies to section #2 we'd like to see but feel free to add more:
- Start a new message and find the "to"��member with a auto-suggest for member names.
- Some type of indicator for read / unread messages
- Perhaps some graphical layout like we have on the challenge discussion boards of the threaded conversation. We like displaying member profile photos!
- Rich text editor with spellcheck if possible.
- Search for messages by keyword
- Pagination of messages
- Report a message as inappropriate
