Challenge Summary

Welcome to the Appirio Unemployment Rate Infographic Design Challenge! We are looking to create an informative infographic that cross references global graduation statistic's and unemployment rate information! We want to explore and illustrate the current unemployment rate of a country and student graduating from higher education vs students graduating in computer science and see what the numbers visually show us.

Note: The primary goal of this contest is to design a professional and engaging infographic.

Round 1

Checkpoint:
-
We would like to review your initial infographic and provide feedback

Round 2

Final Design:
- Your final infographic design and files
- Any updates from the Checkpoint review

Contest Details:
We are looking for a cool Infographic poster that illustrates current unemployment rate of a country and students graduating from higher education vs students graduating in computer science subjects.

You are encouraged to submit rough concepts for the Checkpoint (so we can provide you feedback on your directions and overall graphic/illustration choices) and then clean these up/finalize your design for Round 2. Please note that we are looking for infographics ONLY.

Infographic are commonly used to represent complex information in a very easy way to understand. For this contest, "easy to understand" should be a key point to consider as design challenge.

Design Notes:
- No istock photo allowed in this contest. Use your own designs and illustrations.
- Please make sure you listed all Fonts you used on your design to avoid failed screening.
- We are open to any "infographic" styles - but we are leaning towards more of the "Flat" design trend for this "Appirio Unemployment Rate Infographic". Check this site for your reference.
- Color theme should not be boring, remember this is a poster and infographic, it should be engaging.
- How should the unemployment rate infographic look?
- What should be the icons/concepts portray to convey the different messages?
- We are looking for a visual solution, but minimal usage of words!
- When a user views this in a presentation it should quickly make sense.

Stats to pull from:
Concepts we are interested in (What do you think should be included? What are we missing?)
- Country wise unemployment rate (in percentage and descending order), available dataset here.
- Country wise students graduating from higher education (in descending order), look at PISA Results.
- Country wise students graduating in computer science only (in descending order), available dataset from 2007.
- Country wise unemployment data for students who is graduating in computer science only (in percentage/count and descending order).
- Change in unemployment rate from previous year (positive or negative) for each country (from positive to negative order).
- What type of graphics/concepts do you think of?
- What should the icons/steps/concepts portray to the user graphically?
- Use some hypothetical data for the design.

Note:
- Focus on the "Infographic" aspect of this, show us your concepts! We are interested in what stats should be shown in the poster and how it should be illustrated.
- In Round One your design doesn't need to be perfect, show us your concepts, ideas and illustrations. So we can provide you feedback/art direction.
- If you have an idea for a stat item that we are not providing, please ask us and we will try and find the information.
- We are interested in capturing a world map/world feel for this - how do you best show this? A world map is NOT required - it is just a starting suggestion.
