Challenge Summary

Welcome to the Hercules Field Tech HHIC Icon Set Design Contest.
The goal of this contest is to design a clear and intuitive icon set that represents different devices on Hercules Field Tech application. Icon imagery should be easily recognized by user at first glance.

Round 1

Following icons are need submitted for client review.

Hercules is building new application of Hercules Field Tech. This app will contain links and information for the techs and will provide a dashboard with links to various systems and applications that they will use during their daily work.

This time we need to create some icons based on the provided device images to be more intuitive and represent each device on the Hercules Field Tech application.

Files included:
- hhic-storyboard-ipad.7z & hhic-storyboard-iphone.7z : existing HHIC storyboard design
- Design-Notes.pdf: A PDF document with description for each required device icons

IMPORTANT!
- All icons must fit within the existing design theme of the Hercules Field Tech.
- All icons need to represent each device cleverly, so when users see the icon they can understand them at first glance.
- We've provided device images to help you figure out how the icons should look. See attached Design-Notes.pdf
- Icons need to be created in a vector format ( .ai illustrator format). We plan to use the icons to used on another medias, so they look great when resize to any sizes.
- Icons sizes need to fit when placed on required iPad and iPhone screens below, for demonstration purpose:
-- iPad_Portrait_Std_7.png (You might need create separate screen to show all icons before and after scrolling)
-- iPad_Portrait_Retina_9.png (Create separate screen for each 7 icons)
-- iPhone_Portrait_Retina_9.png (You might need create separate screen to show all icons
 before and after scrolling)
-- iPhone_Portrait_Retina_11.png (Create separate screen for each 7 icons)

- You also need to create 1 screen that contains all of the required icons for client review.
- Contest winner will need show how icons look on Retina and Standard Screen

These are icons needed as submission on this contest:

1. Standard Set Top Box
- Design an icon for the Standard set top box
- Color consideration (make the icon black)

2. DVR Set Top Box
- Design an icon for the DVR set top box
- Color consideration (make the icon gray or silver)
- Possibly have the set top box be based off of icon #1 but have a label or letters that say “DVR" on the icon

3. Digital Adapter (DTA)
- Design an icon for the Digital Adapter or (DTA)
- Color consideration (make the icon black)
- Include the label or letters "DTA" with the icon

4. Cable Modem
- Design an icon for the Cable Modem
- Color consideration (make the icon black)
- Include a label or icon to indicate that this modem is “cable only”
- Show the modem vertical in a stand

5. Telephony Modem
- Design an icon for the Telephony Modem
- Color consideration (make the icon black)
- Include a label or icon to indicate that this modem is “telephone only”
- Show the modem vertical in a stand

6. Cable & Telephony Modem
- Design an icon for the combo Cable & Telephony Modem
- Color consideration (make the icon black)
- Include both cable & telephony icons from previous icons (#4 and #5)
- Show the modem vertical in a stand

7. WiFi Enabled Modem
- Design an icon for the Wifi Enabled Modem
- Color consideration (make the icon black)
- Use same style icon for modem, but add a Wifi icon to indicate that this modem is Wifi enabled

Submission & Source Files
Preview Image

Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024 JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it. You are free to resize or crop your submission to fit this size, but do not add any filters or elements for dramatic effect, such as drop shadows or reflections.

Submission File
Submit JPG/PNG for your submission file based on requirements stated above.

Source Files
All original source files. Original source files should be saved as shape format of AI (Illustrator) files.

Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify your graphics (sizes or colors) or modify overall colors.

Stock Photography

Stock photography is not allowed in this challenge. All submitted elements must be designed solely by you. See this page for more details.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.
