Challenge Summary

It’s a pleasure to introduce this important challenge to the community. We need your creativity and skills to create a simple, and yet dramatic, graphic design that shows a particular process from Appirio’s business. Welcome and best of luck!

Round 1

For your R1 deliverables please submit the requested infographic design.

Round 2

Final design will contain all the requested infographic design plus any updates from client feedback.

The primary goal of this contest is to design a professional looking graphic that explains the how Appirio works with clients and helps them to turn ideas into reality by using internal teams and the community.

Infographics are commonly used to represent complex information in a very easy way to understand. For this contest, “easy to understand” should be a key point to consider as design challenge. However, this is not a metrics-focused infographic. You need to show a workflow representation that is to understand or Appirio's clients.

This infographic will be used for presentations, and possible for web and print. We need vector designs.

Branding and Guidelines
- Files must be created in vector format in RGB mode.
- Dimensions are 900 pixels for width. Height is up to you but don’t exceed 1000px.
- Appirio logo must be wisely used somewhere in you design.
- You CAN NOT use topcoder logo. Just written reference.
- Colors and overall feel should match the Appirio website branding. Focus the style on clean and modern with good use of graphics/icons. Avoid cartoonish designs (not wanted).
- Fonts are open to creativity. However, after picking a winner we’ll ask to replace the fonts with our brand ones. So try to find similar approaches to the ones you see on the website from the Studio allowed fonts. Use them wisely to make the design attractive, not busy. Declare your fonts according to the Studio font’s policies.

Infographic Requirements
The main concept you need to focus is “Appirio helps customers turn ideas into working applications using our internal teams and the topcoder community. It could be represented as an assembly line, construction site or some other analogy”. Based on that, we need you to put creative thoughts to the following elements we need to display.

Workflow Content
- Customer has an idea but has no idea what technology to use or how to turn the idea into a working app.
- Customer talks to an Appirio expert(s).
- The Appirio expert(s) turns the idea into a blueprint for an app, broken down into a set of discrete items (an architecture in the broadest sense).
- The Appirio expert matches the items against a pre existing library of assets (unlike topcoder, Appirio owns the code and can reuse it for clients) and then sends out new development items to in-house team or the topcoder community (with 600,000 of the world’s leading technologists) and then the Appirio experts bring them back together to create the finished product for the customers (tapping into a broad team and community accelerates innovation).
- Throughout the development process, Appirio development management system ensures quality of the code using metrics, benchmarks and qa tools, It also manages entire development process and supports iteration.
- The output is a better, more creative solution, faster than is possible using traditional approaches.

From all this overview you can extract the following “actors”:
- Customer.
- Appirio Expert.
- Assets Library.
- In-house team: Offshore, Onshore and Community (3 assets).
- TopCoder Crowd community (Design and Development).
- Return to customer.

Keywords
- Better output/business value.
- Greater innovation.
- Fast output.
- Cost efficiency.
- Time saving.

Data (optional -  it’s up to you to include this or not)
- The average asset saves 40-80 hours of development and testing time.
- Appirio has over hundred thousand technical benchmarks of various cloud deployments to compare against for quality and performance.

*NOTE: All text is not written in stone. You are encouraged to rethink it if necessary to find a better way to display it and to be understood. Remember, simple and easy.
