Contest Details

Hercules has been building the Field Tech application over the last year. We are now focusing refining the user experience and improving it wherever possible. This application will contain links and information for field technicians and will provide a dashboard with links to various systems and applications that they will use during their daily work.

This challenge is to suggest a better design and user experience for the Customer Education area

Customer Education (CE) Design Requirements
- We need you to provide design concepts for an improved user/flow experience within this Customer Education area
- We need you to think about a better layout and better user click path
- Explore the page grid and display of thumbnails, icons and content
- Could we use any additional icons to help the user?

- The checkboxes to send video emails also needs a better experience - right now its clunky
- As a secondary item please explore the brand colors and see how they might be useful within the Customer Education area
- Design Note: The application loads slowly with too many video thumbnails (the reason they were removed in previous version) so this time we need use them appropriately (for landing page etc)

1. CE Landing Page
- The landing page needs a new layout/structure that will improve the user experience
-
Explore what the users see first when they land here
- The users might see some groupings of quick links to quickly find priority videos
- The users might see a grid of 4-6 thumbnails of popular videos
- The users might have additional options to quickly filter the videos - possible suggestions:
-- Setting

-- Billing
-- Field Tech TV
-- Field Tech Control
-- Field Tech Home
-- Field Tech Internet
-- Field Tech App
-- Accessibility

- Thumbnails might be populated by the video's or we can use a custom graphic to speed up loading
- Landing page need show 'Most Popular' and 'Top Rated Videos' section.
- We still need the search input - can it be improved or do we keep it as is?
- Any other features that might improve the user experience - what would make this useful for you?

2. Search Result
- Search result page would be a different layout then the landing page
- How should the search results look (list, groups of lists etc)

- On detail page we might want to add features like rating the video and send email - How does this flow work?
- Improve the Search Results navigation - how do we get back to the CE landing page?
- Do we need to show related videos? Any other features that might improve the user experience - what would make this useful for you?

3. Send Email
Current Situation:
- The Send Email flow is very clunky and hard to use - we are looking to update the design/flow
- Show separate screen show how send email functionality works, from start selecting items until succesfully send the email.
- You can check existing flow on attached current-application-screenshot.zip

IMPORTANT
- Submit "iPad Standard" Landscape Layout (1024px x 768px) for submission format. Portrait layout will be task for challenge winner.
- Your source file must be created as shape graphics format, so storyboard can easily resize for iPad and iPhone Retina sizes

- You can re-use graphics on this storyboard, but for submission format on this contest, need match like current application screenshot
