Challenge Summary

Welcome to the NASA Tournament Lab CubeSat Launch Initiative Poster and Flyer Design Challenge!  The NASA CubeSat Launch Initiative (CSLI) enables the launch of small research satellite, or CubeSat, projects designed, built and operated by students, teachers and faculty providing them with hands-on flight hardware development experience.  CSLI also provides access to space for CubeSats developed by the U.S. government and non-profit organizations giving all these CubeSat developers access to conduct research in the areas of science, exploration, technology development, education or operations. Since its inception, the initiative has selected over 100 CubeSats from across the United States. The miniature satellites are chosen from proposers that respond to yearly public announcements. NASA will announce another call for proposals in mid-August 2014.

For this challenge, your task is to design a poster and a flyer that showcases NASA’s CubeSat Launch Initiative (CSLI) to high schools, universities and community colleges, introduc

Round 2

The primary goal of this challenge is to design a poster and a flyer that showcases NASA’s CubeSat Launch Initiative (CSLI).

Your design should convey at least one the following messages:
- NASA’s CubeSat Launch Initiative provides students real-world exposure to spaceflight.
- CubeSats offer students the opportunity to discover the excitement of space exploration while confronting the tough technology and engineering challenges surrounding spaceflight.
- CubeSat missions spur science innovation and creativity.
- CubeSat development inspires engineering inventions and advances.
- CubeSats allows students, through hands-on work on real, exciting end-to-end projects to develop the necessary skills and experience need to succeed in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics careers.
- CubeSats build 21st century skills such as problem solving, creativity, ability to work in teams, etc.

The poster should be interesting, exciting, and appealing and must engage the target audience, which is high school and university students. Every student, teacher, and school should want to hang it in their classroom. Students should be excited about the opportunity to build their own satellite that could fly into space, creating a nation of citizen scientists and spaceexplorers a so called “Space Nation”.

Working together, we can prove that the future really is what we make of it.

You are required to produce two sizes with the same design; the sizes are for Poster and for Flyer. The exact sizes are defined below.

Requirements:
- Follow NASA style guide attached (NASA_Style_Guide.pdf)
1. Sizes:
- For the Poster, 24”x36” inches
- For the Flyer: 8 ½”x11” or  the shape of 3D CubeSat (i.e. “1U” 10x10x10 cm or "2U" (20×10×10 cm) .
- File resolution should be 300dpi minimum

2. Images:

- Does it include social links?

Content
- Is the CubeSat Launch Initiative message conveyed?
- Is the intent/topic clear when you first look at it?
- Is the purpose/objective explained clearly
- Is the information and graphics relevant to NASA and CubeSats?
- With an explanation, can viewers grasp the intent of the poster?- Will the poster be remembered?
- Does the poster motivate viewer to take action?

Idea and Creativity
- Is the poster original and creative? Replicas of copyrighted or registered characters or logos are not permitted.
