Welcome to the TopCoder Stationery Design Challenge!

We are looking for clean, professional designs for a letterhead and business cards for TopCoder. They need to incorporate all that the TopCoder community is about, innovative crowdsourced solutions and software design and development. The client is looking for a simple and clean letterhead design which will be used to send official communication, as well as uniquely designed business cards which will be handed out and circulated widely - this will be very high visibility, so make sure your design is spectacular!

Round 1

Please submit your initial designs for checkpoint review (both letterhead and business cards).

Round 2

Please submit your final designs for review (both letterhead and business cards), after applying checkpoint feedback.


Primary Goal:
The goal of this contest is to design a clean and professional letterhead, and business cards. This letterhead will be used by TopCoder across all official communication.

Logo: The letterhead design must include the TopCoder logo (topcoder_logo.ai), and additionally any graphics you create yourself.

You may follow the look and feel of the logo, but if you want to use other colors, it must complement the logos. We are open to any ideas.

Business Card Design:
Size: Please use the attached TC_Business_Card_Template.pdf
- You need to submit one design for the Front of the card, and one for the Back.
- In case you have any cool ideas in terms of custom shapes or corners that may be meaningful to your design, we are open to your ideas. However, try to keep it within the specified template size.
- You can use either portrait or landscape orientation, but the dimensions of the card need to be 3.5" x 2"

Important notes:
- Resolution for all artwork should be a minimum of 300 dpi. All colors should be CMYK for digital print.
- Keep your designs simple and clean.
- Please use the provided templates. If you use other templates, your submission will fail screening.
- Designs must be created as VECTOR artwork so they can be resized without a loss of quality. Make sure your design quality is not diminished when scaled up or down.

Judging Criteria:
- Requirements: Does your design meet the requirements as stated? 
- Quality: Does your letterhead design look simple and clean? Do your business card designs really stand out?

Preview Image:
Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024 JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place your submissions within it. You are free to resize or crop your submission to fit this size, but do not add any filters or elements for dramatic effect, such as drop shadows or reflections.

Submission File:
All requested Contest Deliverables in JPG or PNG file format in RGB color mode at 72dpi. Please use the provided templates. If you use other templates, your submission will fail screening.

Source File:
All original VECTOR source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape and saved as layered AI or EPS files in CMYK color mode. Please use the provided templates. If you use other templates, your submission will fail screening.

Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify colors or fonts.

Please read the challenge specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this challenge. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.

Stock Photography

Stock photography is not allowed in this challenge. All submitted elements must be designed solely by you. See this page for more details.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.
