Challenge Overview
Background
Hewlett Packard has developed a set of JSON-based REST API’s which enable “Big Data”-type processing capabilities allowing developers to process information embedded in unstructured text and images in previously inaccessible formats. This platform is called IDOL OnDemand and at this point is in the Early Access release phase, open for all Innovators to use.
HP IDOL OnDemand Mashup Hackathon Challenge
These are the salad days for Mashup developers. Every major and minor software and platform vendor on the web has exposed functionality to the developer community. At [topcoder] we know API’s! HP and [topcoder] want you to develop a cutting-edge mashup using HP’s new platform – IDOL OnDemand. The sky is the limit here. We’re hoping to engage and reward your creativity. The deliverable for this challenge is a working application that calls the API’s of two different platform. Of course, you can call as many different API’s as you want but at least one of them should be the IDOL OnDemand API’s. The winners will be selected by HP based on business and market impact.

Final Submission Guidelines
- Upload all your source code as a zip
- Provide documentation for your solution. Give a clear description about the use case and define the business problem or market opportunity you are trying to solve.
- If your application is publically available, please provide a URL so that we can run it.
- A screen-share video of your application is required describing its features, basic design and the API’s that your application uses. Video entries are critical in the evaluation of your submission.
Employees and direct and indirect subcontractors of Hewlett-Packard Company and its subsidiaries and other affiliates (“HP”), and employees and direct and indirect subcontractors of HP’s partners (including TopCoder and its affiliates) are not eligible to participate in the challenge.
