Challenge Description:
The goal of this challenge is to demonstrate the possible look & feel of a company branded App Store. This should be designed as a native iOS iPad application. These designs should show a screen of applications that the users can download or use inside the app.
We are looking for the [topcoder] design community to help us with planning our new "user experience" (UX).
Design Concept Goals:
- How should this application look?
- Suggest user screen flows and navigation.
- What should the priority features be?
- How quickly could you find information?
- What is the best UX?
- Think simple but effective solutions! Have fun creating this - let us know how you think it should work!
- We want this to be MODERN design!
Use the 1024×768 (Standard sizes) for submission format. Make sure you create graphic in 'shape' format, so when resize for retina versions, graphic still look sharp! It will be great if you can provide the portrait version.
Some inspiration you can consider but do NOT copy:
- Apple AppStore
- Amazon AppStore
- Kindle Tablet Store
- Google Play Store
- Steam Game Store
User Story:
- User will download the application from Apple AppStore.
- User will open the application and see a bunch of apps available to them.
- The user can click on an app which will open that particular application.
Design Requirements:
There are three types of apps that should be shown in this app:
- Internal Applications - these are built in and will open in this container
- Web Applications - these are basically links to a mobile-friendly webpage - will open in a web view in the container
- External Applications - these are iOS apps built by other people. When clicked, it should take the user to the download page on Apple AppStore or if they already have it open, open the external app.
- This should be designed as a native iOS application for iOS 7. We are not looking for a web page style of design.
Required Screens:
0. App's Landing Page
- A landing page where a user can see the apps, and have a button says “Available on the App Store”
1. The App Store
- What apps are offering, default sorting by features?
- What inside apps they’ve downloaded already
- What are on this device?
- Icon driven
- Means of filtering and searching, categorical default view for ease of use
2. The App Details
- Icon
- Description
- Developer/Publisher
- Download call-to-action
- Link for further information
- Reviews
- Related other apps
3. “Purchasing”/Downloading an App
- Can be done from either 1. App Store or 2. App Details - how the basic interactions work?
- Show how this changes the view of the app in the initial screen (1)
Design Bonus Features:
- A section to show recently used apps or section to configure often used apps
- A filter or searching concept
- Ability to show details of an app without opening it, perhaps a description, key features and a thumbnail/screenshot.
- Possible My Profile section
- Should show some of the basic interactions based on the AppStore model - how they “purchase”, show apps they already have (on this device or not?), just good starting points to show design thinking beyond just screen views.
Supporting Documents:
- Meli Style Guide. The color scheme should be followed but some liberties can be taken with the concepts. (Revised_Style_Guide_v2.pdf.zip)
IMPORTANT:
- Keep things consistent. This means all graphic styles should work together.
- All of the graphics should have a similar feel and general aesthetic appearance
Target User:
- Building managers.
- Budget directores.
- Server admin mangers.
Judging Criteria:
- How well you plan the user experience and capture your ideas visually
- Cleanliness of your graphics and design
- Your design should possible to build and make sense as a mobile application
Submission & Source Files:
Preview Image
Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024px JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it.
Submission File
Submit JPG/PNG for your submission files.
Source Files
All original source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Photoshop and saved as layered PSD file, or Adobe Illustrator as a layered AI file.
Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify your graphics (sizes or colors) or modify overall colors. We may ask you to update your design or graphics based on checkpoint feedback.
