Challenge Summary
Welcome to Topcoder Data Science Landing Page Storyboard Design Challenge. We need to design one (1) landing page for Data Science community want that represents what we do on this track based on an existing design we’re providing. You’ll be designing for YOUR community, this is your site. Come on and join!
Round 1
For your R1 deliverables please submit the requested screens design under “Design Requirements” section.
- Data Science Landing Page Desktop and Mobile View
Round 2
Final design will contain all the requested screens under “Design Requirements” section plus any updates from client feedback.
- Data Science Landing Page Desktop and Mobile View
The primary goal of this challenge is to design elements for the Data Science community landing page. This page is going to be target of a marketing campaign to show the visitors what this specific community can do, learn and achieve.
We have a baseline design for the landing page, we need you to modify the layout, make some adjustments and design new exciting elements, based on a new wireframe, also provided.
Branding and Guidelines
- Provide desktop and mobile view of the screens. Specific limitations 1010px wide for desktop and 320px wide for mobile, as the provided baseline (TCCommunityTrack_Storyboards.zip - Design is for Data track only).
- Follow the provided Website PSD GUI Kit. The design needs consistency among all the features you create.
- Follow the flat design theme in the storyboard and please consider great use of white space.
- You are encouraged to create icons and quality graphics for your design to standout where you think appropriate. Keep in mind your graphics should follow the look and feel of the site.
Design Requirements
Follow DataLayout.png to design the following elements. Show what's in the wireframes only.
1) Masthead
- Use the attached banner data_homepage_banner.png.
- Add a "sign up" button using the styles from the UI Kit.
- Add the short summary/description **below** the masthead in a pleasing way.
Test your skills in algorithms involving machine learning, graph theory, optimizations, recursion, dynamic programming and much more. In addition, the community works on some of the toughest academic and real world problems from organizations like Harvard and NASA. Ready to get started? If you haven't already, sign up to be a [topcoder] member and then <dive into the Data Science Guide> (link).
2 & 3) Short Description/Summary
- These areas should show the title, track summary and link to Active Challenges page for Data Science (replace active/upcoming links with a single "View Active Challenges" link).
- Please do not center everything like the wireframe shows.
- Use the following text.
Algorithm: The Algorithm competitions are timed competitions where all contestants compete online and are given the same problems to solve under the same time constraints. The competitions are available in five programming languages: Java, C#, C++, VB.NET and Python.
Marathon: Marathon Matches are a more flexible competition format than the traditional SRM with an extended timeline that offers different types of problems than what can be offered in a traditional TopCoder algorithm round.
4) Launch Arena
- Design a nice and prominent "Launch Arena" button.
5) Learn More
- Show title "Learn More" and the following information/links.
-- Getting Started in Data Science/Algorithms
-- How to Run the Arena
-- Getting Around in the Arena
-- Algorithm Tutorials
-- Marathon Match Tutorials
-- Forums

- Use the same member spotlight from the provided storyboards.
7) TCO Promo
- Use the same TCO promo from the provided storyboards.
8) Problem Writer’s Corner
