Welcome to the Appathon Logo and Brand Design Challenge. The goal of this challenge is to create a new, fun, professional and memorable logo for our developer “Appathon” event!
Round 1
Initial Logo Design:
- Logo examples/sketches.
- List any branding guidelines, colors, fonts you would suggest.

Round 2
Final Designs plus any checkpoint feedback:
- Final Logo.
- Invite design examples.

Challenge Description:
The goal of this challenge is to design an event logo and brand! We are looking for logo ideas and solutions for the CableCo “Appathon”. The Appathon is where developers and designers will come together to collaborate and create apps on within a specific time frame. The event will take place on the 16th and 17th September at the Ziggo Dome as part of the CableCo Tech Summit.
The Appathon is aimed at Vendors, individual coders, students and content parties.
The Appathon is the beginning of building our developer community for applications and as well as opening our API’s to the outside world. Positioning us in the industry as valuing the individuals knowledge and freedom and capacity for creativity.
Note: CableCo is a codename.

Logo Requirements:
1) Logo creation and brand ideas
- The logo created should convey the message of App and Marathon hence the name Appathon.
- You can use “Appathon 2014” tagline with the logo.
- The graphic must represent the target audiences stated below in "Target Audience"
- Please stay away from gradients, as they will not be able be easily reproduced across all media
- You must show your logo on a white and black background (You MUST use the logo template provided)
- The logo must be shown in various forms on the template (different color choices, layout, font use etc.)
- You must identify your colors theme in the submission.
- Designs must be created as VECTOR artwork so they can be resized without a loss of quality. Make sure your logo quality is not diminished when scaled up or down.
2) Electronic Invite Requirements:
- We also need to send out an electronic/email invitation for the event - how should this look?
- We are looking for design examples/thoughts for the invitation containing your new logo and event branding.
- It should display the day and time of the summit (16-17 September)
- It should contain client logo.
- It should display the location of the summit “Ziggo Dome”
- How should this look and be branded?

Judging Criteria:
- Requirements: Does your logo meet the requirements as stated in the description.
- Relevance: How does your logo "fit" with the purpose?
- Quality: Does your logo look fresh, professional and clean? Is the composition/layout well done? Have you used typography in a meaningful way?
- Concept: Does your logo present a new and interesting concept? Is it simple, yet memorable?

Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024px JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it.

Submit JPG/PNG image files based on contest submission requirements stated above
Source Files
All original VECTOR source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape and saved as layered AI or EPS files. Your source files must meet these requirements:
1) The AI/EPS logo file with text intact (not outlined).
2) The AI/EPS logo file with text in outline format.
Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify your graphics (sizes or colors) or modify overall colors.
