Challenge Details
Hyperion Home Video needs to gather, record, validate and report of metadata associated with film, television and gaming products in multiple languages that were released over the last few decades. Our solution is to use the global movie and television enthusiast crowd to gather, submit and validate missing meta data by using a mobile application that creates a game out of the experience where users can trade in points earned gathering metadata for rewards and merchandise.
The goal of this challenge is to design a set of screens for our movies metadata application that includes the ability for user to complete metadata from movies and connects it to their current digital properties. People will be rewarded for supplying digital images (pictures) of original packaging for each title. There will be multiple images for each packaging for each title. Additionally, there will be multiple packaging options for each title, (VHS, DVD, Blu-ray, etc…) and all these combinations apply for different countries and languages.
Additionally, there is a single "admin" page to design, where Hyperion employees can see usage stats for the mobile application.
Use Case Scenario:
Jeff is a movie enthusiast who hears about a movie title game from his friend Danielle who shared it via Facebook, recommending he play to win prizes or to try and beat him in a challenges to collect the most movie title playing cards. Jeff downloads the app, creates a profile and begins playing. He searches the list of rare and incomplete movies and finds one he actually owns! He takes a picture of the movie with the data capture function. The application performs auto-processing for image quality and OCR compatibility. After image quality is confirmed, he submits, confirming the meta data is accurate. He earns extra points because the movie is rare. His point total is higher than Danielle so he shares his point total on Facebook, stating that he's winning the challenge. When Jeff goes back to his game profile he sees that he has a new virtual "movie title card" - a thumbnail of the movie image he took with the title. If he selects the movie he can see the metadata for it. He also has a badge for 1st time uploader and a point total. He decides to redeem his points for a Hyperion company tee shirt at an eCommerce page he can access directly from the application. After buying the shirt with points, his available points to use is reduced to zero but his lifetime point total remains the same. Jeff sees a promotion for a free movie rental if he successfully captures data for all 5 Superman movies and he continues his hunt for the rare titles.
