Challenge Summary

Welcome to the HP IDOL OnDemand Campaign T-shirt Design Challenge. The IDOL OnDemand team is going to be participating in several events over the coming months including the following:
- API World http://apiworld.co/, September 13 – 17, San Francisco, CA
- Legal Hackers NYC http://www.codethedeal.com/, September 20-21, New York, NY
- HackMIT Hackathon https://www.hackmit.org/, October 4 – 5, Cambridge, MA
- TCO14 http://community.topcoder.com/tco14/, November 16 – 19, San Francisco, CA

We need several designs for our new t-shirts that will be fun for participants and our staff at these events. We're looking for your help creating UNIQUE, FUN and CREATIVE designs that will appeal to coders, developers and computer science students that are interested in IDOL OnDemand and in wearing a cool t-shirt!

We don't want this to be just another a corporate t-shirt. It must be a t-shirt that will appeal to men and women. People should not feel like a walking advertisement when they are wearing it, and they should feel comfortable going out in public with it on even after the event. Design a t-shirt that you would want to wear!

We are looking for you to design a modern and cool design for a t-shirt that conveys the brand name "HP IDOL OnDemand".

T-Shirt Design Requirements

- Provide mock-ups of each t-shirt design (front view, side view(s), and back view) and with the shirts in the following colors (white, black, grey, red, and Tiffany Blue) – the client wants to ensure the designs will work on each of the typical t-shirt colors that they use.
- Create a design for a t-shirt that uses the concept of "Human Information" as the inspiration. Human information includes emails, social media, images, video, audio and more.
- Your design needs to be unique, modern, flat design (no shadows) and represent a new generation of APIs. It has to be attractive to wear on a t-shirt, stand out but not be extravagantly bright or showy.
- The t-shirt needs to appeal to a developer audience – feel free to use tech/developer-speak if you think it makes sense (e.g. witty coding messaging).
- Optionally place "Powered by HP IDOL OnDemand" using the logo somewhere not more prominent than the main design.
- Up to the designer whether or not to include the client's website URL "idolondemand.com"
- Up to the designer whether or not to include an optional sleeve print graphic
- Designs must work on a variety of t-shirt colors with a single or multi-color print with clear contrast with your design. Multi-color prints must be limited to 3 colors.
- Avoid gradients, as they will not be able to be easily reproduced across all media.

Provided in this challenge is a PDF giving some background info on human information, IDOL OnDemand, and a sample t-shirt design that the client has put together for reference.

Branding Guidelines

- Files must be created in vector format in CMYK mode. Follow the provided template to place your t-shirt design or you may use your own t-shirt template.
- Fonts are open to creativity. Use them wisely to make the design attractive, not busy. Declare your fonts according to the Studio font's policies

Target Audience

Our target audience is developers and coders that are interested in the HP IDOL OnDemand APIs.

Judging Criteria

- Originality: it has to be sleek, attractive, modern and represent coding. The design has to be something coders and developers would want to wear.
- Quality: does your t-shirt design look fresh, professional, and clean? Is the composition/layout well done? Have you used typography in a meaningful way?
- Concept: does your design present a new and interesting concept? Is it simple, yet memorable?
