Challenge Overview
Project Overview:
Welcome to the [serenity] New Challenge Creation HTML5 UI Prototype Challenge! The goal of this challenge is to create an HTML5 Prototype based on provided storyboards for Appirio Application Framework using Angular JS and Bootstrap frameworks.
As part of this challenge you will need to document all HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript code. We need clear explanation of the code to help us figure all the HTML5/CSS3/JS code functions and make it easier for future developers and the client to understand what you have built.
NOTE: This application will be using AngularJS Framework (http://angularjs.org, http://docs.angularjs.org/guide) and Bootstrap 3 (http://getbootstrap.com/getting-started). Please follow coding standards and write clean code for AngularJS data binding instead of using plain HTML code.
Tips for Success: Asking questions early and getting Copilot or PM's feedback is very important for the success of this challenge.
Competition Task Overview:
The main task of this competition is to develop HTML5 prototype based on the provided storyboard designs. Your prototype must work properly in all the required browsers, for this challenge we are only focusing on desktop.
Required Pages:
This is going to be a one scrollable page prototype with different sections:
1) Information for public browsing section:
- The user should be able to enter his data for Challenge Name, Short Description and Long Description:
-- Challenge Name: 80 chars
-- Short Description: 100 chars
-- Long Description: 1000 chars
- Use input placeholder attribute for placeholder text found in the fields.
2) Information for registered contestants section:
- When you click browse button you should be able to input a file from your machine; you can mockup this by saving the file name.
- Please show uploading file progress bar.
- Clicking on (x) icon will delete the file.
- You need to add a description for each file you upload:
-- File Description: 80 chars
- Clicking on (+) icon will upload the file and start the uploading progress.
3) Requirements section:
- The user should be able to enter his data for requirements.
- Use input placeholder attribute for placeholder text found in the fields.
- Clicking on (Edit) icon will allow the user to edit his requirement.
- Clicking on (Delete) icon will delete that requirement.
4) Timeline section:
- The user should be able to timeline for his challenge from this section.
- Clicking on (Calendar) icon will open a date picker, please customize it to be consistent with the colors of the design.
- The user should be able to select the starting time from a drop down list.
5) Prizes section:
- The user should be able to enter prizes amount (numbers only).
- Clicking on (x) icon will delete the prize, but user cannot delete 1st place prize.
- Clicking on (+) icon will add a prize placement, we will have up to 5 placements.
- Customer account will have autocomplete feature.
6) Challenge Map:
- This is the part that appears on the right side of the screen, it tells you at what section you are at the moment.
- The Challenge Map is free-float up and down the page as user fills the form out (The PSD file almost makes it look as if the challenge map is replicated from section to section to section, but that is not the desire.), in other words it will be sticky to the right side of the screen.
- Also we want to be able to hide the challenge map (Maybe minimize and maximize functionality), and when the challenge map is hidden we want things to scale up appropriately to make use of the extra space.
- Orange color tells you at what section you are right now.
- Green color means that section is completed.
- Here are the checks for "section completeness":
-- Section 1: Need at least 1 char in each of the 3 fields.
-- Section 2: File attachments are optional.
-- Section 3: Must be at least 1 requirement. The requirement content must have at least 1 character.
-- Section 4: Both dates must be set. End date/time must be after the Start date/time.
-- Section 5: Specify at least one prize.
- Save, cancel and launch buttons will have no actions at the moment.
Specific HTML/CSS/JavaScript Requirements:
HTML/CSS Requirements:
- Your HTML code must be valid HTML5 and follow best practices
- Validate your code - reviewers may accept minor validation errors, but please comment your reason for any validation errors. Use the validators listed in the scorecard.
- Use CSS to space out objects, not clear/transparent images (GIFs or PNGs) and use proper structural CSS to layout your page. Only use table tags for tables of data/information and not for page layout.
- No inline CSS styles - all styles must be placed in an external style-sheet.
- Use semantically correct tags - use H tags for headers, etc. Use strong and em tags instead of bold and italic tags.

- Label all CSS, JavaScript, or HTML hacks with explanations so others will understand.
