Challenge Summary

Welcome to the United - In-Flight Mobile App Design Concepts Challenge. This In-flight App we will be focusing in on four (4) distinct use case scenarios for a singular application that will be used by United Flight Attendants. We will be targeting the designs for Nokia Lumina 1520..

The Application will focus on four areas of work flow:
1) Point of Sale - selling food and items to passengers during flight.
2) Loyalty - Having a list of passengers for a flight (flight manifesto) and passenger ratings, needs, and requests to enable the flight attendant to better service passengers.
3) Workability - Having the ability to report maintenance issues with the plan and submit them to the maintenance department.
4) Flight Attendant Specific - This area of the map would contain the flight attendant’s profile, work schedule, union affiliation, message board and other content related to the flight attendants job.

For this challenge, we will be focusing in on the "3) Workability and 4) Flight Attendant Specific" portions of the Application
We are also running another challenge that is focusing in on the Points of Sale and Loyalty portions of the site so you have double the chances to win!

For this Challenge, you will creating design based on the below use-case scenarios and also we have provided a design direction document to help you get started.

Use-Case Scenarios:

3. Workability:
Jane is doing her post flight walk thru after her arrival in Chicago when she notices that one of the seat back tray’s on seat 8B is broken. She needs to report this issue to the maintenance department so they can schedule a repair for the seat. She pulls up the cabin information, finds the seat on the chart and documents the issue. She can provide notes, take a photo of the issue and submit it to the maintenance department. The maintenance department receives notification on their device that there is an issue and from there the maintenance department can schedule a repair.

4. Flight Attendant Specific (My Workday)
Jane has just checked into a hotel on an overnight layover and wants to see if she can bid or trade vacation days for some time that she wants off this upcoming May. She pulls out her inFlight APP and quickly accesses her Workday. Within Workday Jane can quickly view how many vacation days that she has total and how many days she has remaining. She decides to reach out to a fellow flight attendant, John Doe, to see if he would be willing to trade 4 days for this upcoming May. She submits her request and then corresponds with John directly from the APP to coordinate the vacation day exchange. Jane then goes into her schedule once the trade has been accepted and notices that her calendar has been updated.

Required Screens:
We need below screens to be designed...

1) Dashboard and Main Navigation:
- This would be the application’s main dashboard that a flight attendant would see upon opening the application.
They would have quick access to the four main areas of the application as well as a top line view of their profile.
We would also like to see what the main navigation menu would look like that will be accessible from every screen within the application.

2) Workability and Report an Issue (Cabin Discrepancies):
- Examples include seats that don't recline, broken tray tables...graphical / fun / intuitive way to handle this process for Flight Attendant would be ideal.
- A flight attendant selects the flight that she is on, and can quickly view the cabin layout and select an area to report an issue..

3) Issue Detail and Maintenance Crew View:
- From the previous step, after selecting the flight and the seat where the issue has been noticed, the flight attendant can document the issue by taking a picture of the issue, selecting the issue type, and inputing additional notes in the maintenance request that will help fix the problem.
After hitting “Submit” the request is fielded by the maintenance department.
- The maintenance worker receives a notification on his device that there is an issue.
- The notification tells him who submitted the request, when it was submitted, and the issue details.
- He is able to follow up on the issue and manage the issue all from his mobile device.

4) My Workday Dashboard and Vacation Days:
This the My Workday Dashboard which need to specifically designed for the Flight Attendants
- This dashboard will give them quick access to their schedules, vacation days, messages, documents ..etc..
- Assume they selected "Vacation Days" we show them the vacation days details..

5) Vacation Days Conversation and My Schedule Details:
- Assume the flight attendant like to take 4 days leave and asks another employee to be on her place..
- She searches for the employee and initiates a chat with that employee..show us how the chatter will look like..
- Come up with a design for "My Schedule" details..that just shows the schedule to the users..

Target Audience:
