Challenge Overview
Our customer has a large legacy application written in Prolifics Panther. They would like to move this application to a modern .NET codebase. The customer would prefer to create a set of conversion tools to convert Panther code to .NET (C#) code.
We're looking for a copilot who can do the following
- Create a gameplan including the cost and timeline to create a migration toolset
- If a set of conversion tools is impractical, elaborate in detail on why and create a gameplan to do a re-write of the application (including the cost and timeline)
Existing Application Details
The existing application is a large two-tier application integrating with an Oracle 11g database on the back end. It has over 600 active users and frequently exceeds 400 concurrent users.

The following Panther features are key areas / capabilities in use in the current application

- Panther DSL for data access
- Report generation?? (http://docs.prolifics.com/docs/panther/html/rpt_html/index.htm)
- Panther runtime
- Screen and Menu capabilities (using native Panther UI capabilities, not web based)
Notable Exclusions
The following Panther capabilities are not used in the existing application and do not need to be accounted for in this design
- Oracle is the only DB used in the application, other database integration need not be considered in this challenge
- Web based capabilities of Panther are not needed
- App server/container are not needed
