Challenge Summary

Welcome to the 3D Systems Touch Mini-site Storyboard Challenge. 3D Systems is the leader in 3D printers and scanners, and recently acquired a company that does a haptic device technology. The haptic device is called "touch" that is capable of interacting with 3D objects. 

The goal of this mini site is to inform people of the haptic device and its technology. This is a fast challenge with and we only requires 2 screens.

Round 1

1) Initial submission design with all the features mentioned in the Requirement section.
2) Any note for the client about your submission
3) Number your submission (01, 02, 03, etc...) for easy client's review

1) Final submission design with all the features mentioned in the Requirement section plus any checkpoint updates.

Haptic technology or haptics, is a force feedback technology which recreates the sense of touch by applying forces, vibrations, or motions to the user from augmented reality 3D objects. Haptic technology can be used in games, medical operations,    and other applications that you can think of. Some of these applications are in the provided "Haptic applications - overview .pptx". 

The 3D Systems' "Touch" device is basically a 3D mouse for intuitive 3D sculpting and design with instant force feedback that mimics the sense of physical sculpting. The Touch works with 3D Systems Cubify® Sculpt™, a powerful virtual sculpting tool that transforms 3D modeling from a complex, skills-centric design experience to a simple, easy sculpting delight for students, designers and hobbyists. This device will be showcased in the upcoming TCO14. More information and usage about this device on the following links:

The main objective of this mini-site is not just focused on 3D sculpting but mainly to inform people about the haptic technology and what the device can offer, and eventually allows the users to come up with great ideas for its use.

- most of the pages will borrow layout from the Swift mini-site (http://swift.topcoder.com/). This just serve as reference and do not copy its design. 

1. Home
- This page will focus on just Haptics, and the new Touch device
- Top section should include Video carousel, photos, and articles. These are some top level stuff describing 3D systems, products, and technology
- dive deeper into or focus on pics and giving more information about haptics and the touch device. This section can contain  articles and links to Haptics, and maybe a short writeup/article with pictures about the Touch device
- videos of the josh interview/demos/etc. You can use screenshot from the provided videos.
- Bottom section: this will contain a "Notify Me" form that will serve as a "Call to Action" for the touch device that users will get latest info/news about the device and some great ideas

2. About 3D Systems
- This page is everything about 3D Systems
- Top section should include Video carousel, photos, and articles. These are some top level stuff describing 3D systems, products, and technology
- Middle section: 3D news – printers/scanners and other related stories
- you can get content images/videos that are related to the requirements mentioned above from http://www.3dsystems.com/

- Keep in mind that the pages should be responsive, but you don't need to show this functionality for this challenge.

Submission & Source Files

Preview Image
Create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024 JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it. 

Submission File
Please upload PNG/JPEG images in a zip file with all requested contest requirements stated above. 

Source Files
All original source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Photoshop or similar and saved as layered PSD files. 

Final Fixes

As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify your graphics, images (sizes or colors) or modify overall colors. 

Please read the challenge specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this challenge. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.

Stock Photography

Stock photography is not allowed in this challenge. All submitted elements must be designed solely by you. See this page for more details.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.
