Challenge Description
The goal of this design challenge is to provide customers with a modern and slick way to leave feedback and review the clients products using a smartphone app.  The product our client sells is beverages (soft drinks/soda/juice drinks/water) in cans and plastic bottles (later referenced as PET).

Currently our client pays a company to travel to locations such as grocery stores where their product is being sold. This company will evaluate how the display of product looks. Is the display neat or is it messy/unprofessional? Is the product spilled on the floor? Is the product damaged/dented? They’ll also ask questions to customers about the product itself. How does it taste? Is that the taste you expected? Was the product easy to open?

Moving forward, rather than pay a company to do this, our client would like to give the customers the ability to complete these tasks on their own for the change to receive rewards or free products.  This will also give our client another way to directly engage with their customers.

Problem
Their current process puts a middleman between the customer and the client. This could make the customer hesitant to give information/feedback to this company. This could also skew results when passing through multiple people.

Goals
By giving customers the ability to interact directly and submit their own feedback we can assure that the information is translated correctly. They’d like to gather information about the products such as the SKU/UPC/Barcode so it’s easier to track. They’d like to do this by allowing the customer to take pictures and add them to their survey. Users will also be rated on their performance, so the higher score you have the more opportunities you will be given to visit a store to submit feedback.

Overall Design Requirements
- This should be designed for mobile - 320px width
. Design should be flexible enough to work for iphone and android
- Please use a placeholder for the logo.
- Simple/fresh/clean layout and crisp fonts - Utilize your white space. Simplify the process, less is more - Simplicity is HUGE with the client
- Good contrast between the fonts and background - make sure fonts are large enough to see
Smart scrolling - How could we incorporate this into the design for devices that support it? How would it work regularly without smart scrolling?
- A user experience and design that is engaging and creates a lasting experience so customers will want to continue using the app
- Use of icons along with text is prefered to help customers quickly know what each button will do
- A feature to save where I am in the feedback/survey process if I’m not able to finish.
- The client has multiple products with different branding that users will be giving feedback on. We want a fresh design and an engaging user interface but it needs to be generic enough to accommodate multiple products that will have their own branding/style.

Inspiration
Below are apps/companies that are doing similar things by rewarding.
http://www.gigwalk.com/ - Client is looking for something similar to this but targeted towards consumers/customers
https://ibotta.com/ - notice the ability to take a picture of your receipt
http://viggleinc.com/overview/ - The take away from this is once the users have completed the task, they’re rewarded with points which they can redeem for merch

Required Screens

01: Splash Screen
- This will be the first screen new users will see
- We need username/password fields and a login button
- Our client has a huge presence on Facebook so we need a Login Using Facebook option
- And last we need a way for new users to sign up

02: Home Screen
This will be the user’s dashboard.
- User will need a way to tell that I’m logged in and also see basic user info like their pending rewards or a balance of the merch they’ve received
- A way to go to the Available Surveys page and see what surveys are available for them to visit a store and give feedback.
- We could show a featured survey that’s available and a View All Surveys button/link

03: Available Surveys
This screen will show all surveys that are available for them to participate in. (Think of this as the Active Challenges page in TC Studio)
- Short description of the survey, location, the reward they’ll receive, and a call to action/button to begin the survey.
- There should also be a More Details link in case they need to learn more about a particular survey

04: Survey Screen
User takes the survey and begins the process of giving feedback here
- Attached is a PDF with the list of questions that need to be asked.
- User should be able to save the survey if they need to take a break or can’t finish right now
- User needs a way to submit the survey

04.1: Survey Photo Screen
The survey asks users to take photos of the products so we need to show how this would look.
- See https://ibotta.com/ in the Inspiration section above

05: Thank You Screen
Confirmation page that the survey was submitted successfully
- Indicates what rewards I’ve received
- As a user, what else would you expect to see here? Should we encourage them to return to the Available Surveys page to encourage them to take more surveys? Or should we encourage them to go back to their home page?

06: My Account Screen
This is an expansion on the Home Screen. We don’t want to distract users from taking surveys so we’ll only show minimal info on the Home Screen
- This page will give us more room to show all information about my account. Will show me what rewards I have, my performance score, basic info, settings
- The user should be able to see their performance score/rank and an explanation of why they were ranked that way so if the customer has a bad rating they know why and can try to improve.
- User needs to be able to edit their gender and age somewhere from this page (settings)

Supporting Documents
- App-Details.pdf
- Colors.jpg
Nairobi-Branding-Guidelines.docx
- Please note that there are two different products:  Can and PET (plastic bottle).  There are survey questions designated for each type of product, and only the relevant survey questions should be displayed to the user.

Target Audience
General consumers and grocery shoppers with smartphones/devices
- Both male and female and anyone above the age of 16 (both of these questions are asked in the app and saved as a setting)

Judging Criteria
As mentioned above, a simple/clean/fresh/modern design is huge.
- Simplicity will be one of the winning criteria
- How well did you execute and plan the path the user will take throughout this app
- Cleanliness of your graphics and design
- Is it easy to use on a mobile device (size of buttons/links/spacing)

Please read the challenge specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this challenge. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.
