Challenge Summary

Welcome to the ACS - "Relay for Life" Mobile Application Redesign Challenge. Goal of this challenge is to update and come up with new concepts/designs that allows users to check-in at the Relay for life event through this mobile application.

The original app was targeted at registering for these events, finding listings of events, and donating but the app doesn’t allow the users to 'check-in' once they arrive at the event, so decided to turn to the community for ideas/concepts around this.

You can try NEW graphic design elements to try and improve the overall page experience.

Round 1

Submit your initial designs for Checkpoint Feedback

1) Check-in Screen (user)
2) Screen indicating User Check-in’s (Host)
3) Track Donations Screen

Feel free to add any other additional screens which are necessary to explain your concept.

Make sure all pages have correct flow! Use correct file numbering. (00, 01, 02, 03)

Round 2

We are looking to give the users a better user experience - for this challenge, we are looking for you to focus on a particular on how to simplify the check-in experience for users!

About “Relay for Life” Event:
Relay for Life is a fundraising event that helps people across the globe to fight against cancer. This mobile app is supposed to help them with their "Relay for Life" fundraising events. These events are held all around the country and let people raise awareness and money to help fight cancer.

Existing Design Assets:
Please find existing design assets here, you are free to reuse these designs..

Design Considerations:
- Focus on the design for a great user experience
- Give importance to the overall layout and think on how a user would interact with the content on the page.
- Show all the screens and provide a user flow/click-path, so we can see how the interactions fit together in the application
- Follow the design (look & feel) of the existing app and keep things consistent.
- All of the graphics should have a similar feel and general aesthetic appearance.

Design Size:
Mobile Screens of size: 640 x 1136px

User Scenarios:
Joe, one of the "Cancer survivor” uses the “Relay for Life” mobile event app to constantly check the list of events being conducted.
- He decides to attend one such event and browses through the app for list of events near his location.
- He schedule himself to attend an event, sees an option to sign up for the event and also has the ability to donate money
- On arriving at the event venue, he sees a big queue waiting to check-in.
- Joe feels that there needs to be a better way on how check-in happens (checking in allows the users to inform their presence to the host).

Required Screens:
We need below screen to be designed...

A. Design Problem 1:
We want to make this check in process as easy as possible, possibly prompting the user to check in once they arrive to the event (perhaps geolocation), but we are open to any other ideas.

1) Check-in Screen: (user)
- When a user arrives at the event venue, mobile app should allow the user to check-in (this will indicate the host a guest has arrived)
- We are looking for ideas on how this process can be made intuitive..
- Will it be a good idea to automatically spot the location of the user (using geolocation - GPS) as they arrive at the venue and indicate/prompt the user with a screen in “Relay for Life” mobile app to check-in?
- Another thought is, identify user presence through a beacon present in the arrival hall / lobby - so users with “Relay for Life” app are shown a message that they had successfully checked-in and along with that a message can be shown from the host (something like "Welcome to the Relay for Life Event").
- Do you have better suggestion that makes the check-in process very simple?

B. Design Problem 2:
As a host of the event, we need ability to track list of users checked-in and allow messaging..

2) Screen indicating User Check-in’s (Host):
- The host who is conducting the event will be have monitoring capabilities..
- It would be good idea to show the list of users that checked in through the app!
- Any options to allow the users to message back to the user will be a great idea, feel free to show your ideas on this.

C. Design Problem 3:
As a user/donor and host, I don’t have the ability to view the summary of donations..

3) Track Donations Screen (User / Donor and Host)
- We need a page that allows the users to track the list of donations.
- This screen summarizes total donations for the event, for a team, and for an individual.
- How can I view the donation that I contributed as a part of this event?
- Would it be good to provide filtering options (ex. allow users to view the donations received on a particular date range, who has donated, etc..)
- What informations need to be shown on this page?
- Come up with thoughts to make this page simple and allow users to have a great user experience.

D. Design Problem 4:
During the event, users who are looking to make a donation outside of this app (i.e. if they had not previously downloaded the app)..will be provided a website link or a QR code - this will direct the user to below page that helps them make a donation.

4) 1 (one) Step Donation Screen (not a part of the mobile app):
- Users will scan the QR code (to get the link to website) or a enter the website link in a mobile browser (screen size like above 640 x 1136px) to see this donation page.
- We would like to make this a 1 step donation page..

- Please see the existing app page to grab on what details needs to be shown in this page, try to bring in a user experience that would essentially make this a one screen!
- On this page, the user should be able to see what Event, Team, or Individual they are donating to.

Target Audience:
Cancer Survivors, donors and other users who uses this application

Judging Criteria:
- How well you plan the user experience and capture your ideas visually
- Cleanliness of your graphics and design
- Your design should possible to build and make sense as an application
