Challenge Summary

Welcome to Sky Zone Badges and Icon Design Challenge!

In this challenge, we are looking for you to come up with designs for 25 Badges and 10 Icons that will be used within the Sky Zone Mobile app.  Users will earn badges in a classic gamification model for completing certain activities.  These activities are listed in the badge and icons descriptions below.  Badges should focus on the name of the badge (ex. "Eiffel Tower") as opposed to the activity (ex. "5000 jumps").

The winning submission will create a standard badge design (badge holder / background) and the specific artwork for each badge.  Badges should be circular, and as previously noted should focus on the name of the badge.

The takeaway is that Sky Zone and the Sky Zone mobile app are world class and cutting edge, so our designs should reflect that.

We're really excited to see your Badges and Icon designs for this challenge!

Round 1

Submit your initial icon designs for Checkpoint feedbacks:
- The first 10 Badges
- The first 10 Icons.
- Notes.jpg: Any comments about your design for the Client.

Round 2

Your Final designs for all required icons with all checkpoint feedback implemented:
- All icons with checkpoint feedback incorporated.
- All badges with checkpoint feedback incorporated.
- Notes.jpg: Any comments about your design for the Client

For this challenge, we need to design 25 badges and 10 Icons that will be used in our Sky Zone Mobile application that will be global and available in the app stores.

Badge Design Guidelines:
Please make sure you follow below design requirements
- Reference skyzone.com for information about the company and a general sense of their brand.
- Theme: Fun!  But also clean, classy and profesisonal.
- All badges and icons need to be easily edited and resized, so please create them as vectors.
- You must submit .ai single-layer source files.
- We encourage you to research the icon based on the given concepts and the notes and examples provided.
- All graphics must be consistent and look to be part of the same badge family or "icon set" (for example, use the same perspective, weight, etc).
- These badges will be earned by users after achieving certain goals.

Icon Design Guidelines:
Please make sure you follow below design requirements
- The icons should be custom-designed, and should communicate the actions/functions listed below, without requiring a label.
- Vector output is preferred, though not required, as long as each icon can scale to 256 x 256 pixels.
- Perference is monochromatic icons, as they may be displayed on solid (black/white) backgrounds, as well as on top of photography.
- The icons are being designed for a new Sky Zone app.
- The target audience will be youth, and their parents.

Supporting Documents:
- Sky Zone Storyboard (storyboard.zip)
- Look at badges for the app Untappd as an example of how this is done well.  Note that each badge has a consistent holder and background, but each reflects the achievement for that badge in a fun way.  Here are some links to sample images from that application:

  • Several of the original badges: https://m1.behance.net/rendition/modules/69451211/disp/87cb2da99a479e13d0ccb0a99493b848.jpg

  • The "Here Comes the Brew" badge for having a beer at a wedding: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_wlO5kUsn6DU/TRS_mPxvYCI/AAAAAAAAASM/beKx2HqsT_I/s1600/bdg_hereComesBrew_lg.png

- The app is being designed to reflect the attributes of youth, fitness and fun. It would be great if the icons reflected these attributes as well, but the top priority is their utility.
