Challenge Summary

Welcome to the CrowdStarter Crowd Sourced Idea App Design Challenge

For this challenge we need your help to design the initial screens of what this web application will look like and how it will function. The overall experience should look professional, sleek and modern. We are looking for a crisp, clean and bright design. Stay away from dark backgrounds and colors. Should be easy to navigate and understand. Also keep in mind that this application will eventually be made available on mobile devices. Make sure your user flows can be easily integrated into a mobile environment.

Members within the Client firm need to have a place to collaborate, promote and contribute to shared ideas. The CrowdStarter web application serves as an outlet for members to share ideas and collaborate with each other. Building the sense of a community within the app is extremely crucial. Users should not only able to submit their ideas, but also become “influencers” and “followers” of other ideas. In turn directly contributing to the outcome and success of an idea. Think of it as an internal, private kickstarter.

Business Objective of Initiative is to create an environment to share, collaborate, influence and follow member ideas. Building a sense of community among members and their ideas.

File Downloadables
CrowdStarter_branding.eps - Required Logo, Primary Color and Fonts
CrowdStarter_Wireframes.pdf - Wireframe Guideline

Design Requirements:
- Design your submission on this screen size: 1024px width and height up to your design
- Use the included Branding Guide while designing. We are excited to see what you create!
- The overall UI and UX of the application. Ways to submit an idea as well as score an idea and track its progress. Look to Kickstarter for inspiration on functionality, but DO NOT COPY kickstarter. Make your own designs. We are looking for your best UX/UI ideas and designs. Use the included wireframes as guidance, but feel free to think outside the box a little and wow us.

Challenge Deliverables
- Use the included wireframes (CrowdStarter_Wireframes.pdf) as a good starting point. If you feel there are other, more effective UX practices feel free to explore those. We are looking for your best ideas. Refer to the Branding Guide for additional direction and usage of fonts, colors and logo.

1. Home Page
wireframe: pdf screen 1
- The home screen can be a longer page with sections of content.
- The homepage should serve as great summary of what CrowdStarter is and how it works.
- Keep the look of this page very open and easy to understand.
- We are looking for your best UX and UI designs and ideas for this page specifically.
- Dont be afraid to wow us and think outside the box a little bit.
- Use the included wireframe as general guidance. The homepage should include the following content sections. Feel free to use placeholder text for now.
-- What is Crowd Starter? - Brief description and overview. Link to get started (Takes you to the Submit and Idea screen; Screen 2)
-- Backing an idea
-- Contributing to an idea - Should include a link to Get Started/Submit an Idea (Takes you to the Submit and Idea screen; Screen 2)
-- Idea Feed - think of a gallery/portfolio type layout. This should be a brief over with a button that links to the Idea Feed screen (Screen 4)

2. Submitting an Idea
wireframe: pdf screen 3
- Design a simple form page to submit your idea to the application.
- The page should include the follow form fields as well as header, with navigation and useful information.
- Look to the wireframe for additional guidance:
a. Title (text field)
b. Elevator Pitch - what do you want influencers and followers to see when they first are scrolling through the site/clicking on your idea’s posting? (text field)
c. Internal vs. External (Radial Button)
- Internal
-- Specific location (text field)
-- Which office (dropdown)
-- IS? (radial button)
-- Global operations? (radial button)
- External
-- Market (yes/no) (radial buttons)
-- Market (text box)
-- Client (yes/no) (radial buttons)
-- Client (text box)
- What problems does your idea address? (text field/area)
- How do you envision your idea solving this problem? Describe how it would work. (text field)
- Optional: File Uploads - an area where the contributor could upload any wireframes, process charts, documents and/or sources to further explain their idea.

Project Details:
- When forming a project team, what kind of skillsets will be needed in order to develop your idea? (text field)
- To the best of your ability, determine the size of a team and the roles needed to fulfill this idea (ability to select number range and a selection of job roles; designer, developer, manager, etc.)
- To the best of your ability, determine the estimated project’s scope (dropdown of timelines; 1 week, 4 weeks, 6 months, etc.)
- How much do you foresee this project costing? (ability to select price ranges) *Optional
- Do you already have other potential team members in mind? (yes/no radial button) (text field if selected YES)

3. Idea View
wireframe: PDF screen 2
- This is a screen that has all of the information associated with a submitted idea. Basically the outcome or visitor view of what is generated from the “Submitting an Idea” screen. Refer to the wireframes for additional guidance. This screen should include the following functionality:
- Ability for all users to create a user profile. This user profile will act as a personal dashboard that allows the user to track their ideas submitted, ideas that they’ve influenced, ideas they’re following and the amount of followers they have
- Ability to indicate personal and career interests, which will be tagged and used as predictive user analytics. Based on these selections, “suggested ideas” will appear on a side bar within the platform. These suggested  ideas will also be sent to the user via email once every week, along with the most popular ideas at that time. This is also used to target users for project teams
- “Follow” button for members to continuously check the status of the idea’s development
- “Endorse” text box to show support for the idea. Differs from the follow button in the way that it is a comment that they would give with context. Think about the UX behind this.
- Comments under the idea where the contributor, influencers, and followers can share suggestions.
- Area to show the additional assets that were uploaded (if any). Ability to download/view those. As well as the ability to show the required skillsets, price range, hours needed, project size, etc.)
- Status bar indicating the idea’s progression toward being backed

4. Idea Feed
wireframe: Non provided
Info: This is a feed that shows all of the submitted ideas. Should have the ability to filter the submissions, buy the added tags, scope, price range, etc.
- Think of a simple list with filters at the top to sort the content/info below
- Should be straight forward and easy for the user to find ideas that interest them.

5. User Profile / My Account
wireframe: pdf Screen 4
Refer to the wires for specific content requirements, but should include:
- Profile info: name, date joined, ability to "edit profile" and the user's score.
- navigation to see: Summary, Your Ideas (brief overview, or list view of your submitted ideas), Following, Endorsed, and Followers
- Only focus on the "Your Ideas" tab or navigation view. YOU DO NOT NEED TO DESIGN ALL THE NAVIGATION/ TAB SECTIONS.

Target User
- Innovators and Entrepreneurs for idea submissions and people of influence and with the relevant talent to back an idea with money or time.

Judging Criteria
- How well does your design align with the objectives of the challenge
- Cleanliness of your graphics and design.
- Overall Design and User Experience.
