Challenge Summary

Welcome to the Eyes Ahead Safe Driving Mobile App Design Challenge

Eyes Ahead is a mobile application that tracks your text messaging habits alongside real-time driving and car data. The App tracks the speed at which the vehicle you are driving is moving and notes the time and date that a text message was sent. This information is stored in a log that is accessible through the app as well as an online “dashboard”. This information and/or log is sent to a second user, parent, boss, etc., as a means to start a conversation about any potential dangerous driving issues.

Round 1

Screen 1 - Login (iOS) (Round 1)
Screen 2 - Group Landing/Dashboard (Desktop)
Screen 3 -  Progress (Desktop)

Round 2

Screen 4 - Rankings (Desktop)
Screen 5 - Settings (Desktop)
Screen 6 - My Profile (Desktop)

Design the initial UI and UX for the Eyes Ahead app. We are more concerned with establishing a solid UI design that can then be applied to additional screens as needed.

Business Objective of Initiative
To create a transparent user case with real-time factual data to see any potential problems/bad habits. This allows the 2nd user to take action to fix these problems before they become dangerous. In 2012, driver distraction was the cause of 18 percent of all fatal crashes. Eleven percent of drivers aged 18 to 20 who were involved in an automobile accident and survived admitted they were sending or receiving texts when they crashed. The goal of this app is to help prevent texting and driving.

Elements to Explore
UI elements, form fields, general navigation. An open, user-friendly, not overwhelming design. This app is being targeted to parents, so it should be easy to use and not look confusing.

Elements to Retain
Use the included wireframes as reference. If you feel there are other, more effective UX and UI practices feel free to explore those. We are looking for your best ideas.

Design Requirements
iOS iPhone 5: 1136 x 640px at 326ppi
Desktop: 1280px wide

Target Audience
Parents of teenage and young drivers, that want to track and monitor their child’s/children’s driving and texting habits. In return using that data to start an open dialogue about better, safer driving habits.

Use Case Scenario
Parent/Teen: The teen has an app on his or her mobile device. The information is logged and then displayed for the parent’s viewing on his or her mobile device. Parents and teens both have access to this information. This is the user case that we will focus on in this project.
