Challenge Summary

Welcome to the Apple Watch App Idea Generation Challenge.

Our client Edesia is an American retail company, their main focus is food, including a specialist organic foods department, but they also sell toys and baby/young infant related goods.

The goal of this challenge is to come up with ideas for Apple Watch Apps that will enhance the customer's experience of the Edesia brand.

Note: Edesia is a codename for our client.

Round 1

For Round 1, you are expected to submit your completed idea, including:
1. Abstract Paragraph
2. The “Why”
3. User Stories
4. Future enhancements/extensions for this application
5. Screenshots or Mockups

Round 2

For Round 2, you are expected to submit your completed idea again. At this point, you may have made changes to your idea, based on any feedback from the client (if applicable).


Requirements:
We want YOU to come up with new ideas for Apple Watch App, your app should target the customers of a retailing company specialized mainly in food.

For this ideation challenge, we want you to come up with ideas on how Apple Watch can change the experience of shopping in a retail store! We want you to come up with the best Apple Watch app!

Organizing Your Submission:
Your submission should contain a detailed description of your idea. Preferably one document, with four (4) sections:
1. Abstract Paragraph – Describe your Apple Watch app in this paragraph!
- e.g. The Marketing application allows Apple Watch users to see promotions for items found in the aisle they are passing by so they don’t miss items on promotion.

2. The “Why” – Tell us why this is the app for Apple Watch, and how it will be used by our customers.
- e.g. This app will be used by customers because most people like to know about promotions, etc.

3. User Stories – Write 2 or more user stories/use cases for this application.
- e.g.
1…..

3 When the customer passes next to an item on promotion the watch will show a promotion and it will vibrate as well so the user take a look at it… etc..

4. Future enhancements/extensions for this application
- e.g. This application can be extended to send promotions of items am interested in… etc

5. Screenshots or Mockups
- You are encouraged to provide screenshots or mockups of your idea to explain it more.

Although there are no limit to number of submissions you can upload, you should only upload multiple submissions if each one is comprehensive and substantially different from your others. Within these constraints, you are free to describe any number of alternative approaches and extra features. In fact, we encourage you to do so. You can't have too many ideas!

As a reminder you can submit anything you think highlights your idea clearly.

Judging Criteria:
- Your idea must be technically feasible to implement on Apple Watch device platform.
- Your idea must usable to Edesia Customers.
- Uniqueness/Innovation
- Clarity/Comprehensiveness - your explanation of your idea must clearly explain how the feature works, how it meets the requirements/factors above, and why it will be a good App to implement.

Submission & Source Files:
Preview Image
Create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024 JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it.
- You can take screenshot of your idea document and submit it.
- You can provide a blank image file and use it as preview image.

Submission Files
All original source files of the submitted ideas; it can be PDF, HTML, DOC, TXT or RTF file.

Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to complete one round of minor changes to ensure your submission meets the stated requirements of this challenge.

Please read the challenge specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this challenge. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.

Stock Photography

Stock photography is not allowed in this challenge. All submitted elements must be designed solely by you. See this page for more details.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.
