Challenge Summary

Welcome to the DIG - Screen Design Concepts Challenge! This challenge is focused on re-designing the front-end screens for an existing application called DIG, which is used to present and analyze data related to selling a product to target populations.   The client would like to optimize/makeover the design of DIG’s front-end, and we are looking for you to focus on design concepts for the overall application flow for this challenge.

Round 1

Round 1 will focus on the following screens / use cases:

1) Login / Home Screen (Wireframe: DIG_WireFrame_Login)
2) Create New Query (Wireframe: DIG_WireFrame_Create_New - note: there are 3 wireframes that describe this screen, please make sure to look at all of them)

NOTE: See the wireframes (attached) to understand the screens / functionality needed for the DIG application. If anything is unclear, please ask for clarification on the forum and we will be happy to help!

Round 2

In Round 2, you will need to include all Round 1 screens (updated based on checkpoint feedback).  For Round 2, you must also include all the remaining functionality described in the project documentation, including the following screens:

1) Login / Home Screen (Wireframe: DIG_WireFrame_Login)
2) Create New Query (Wireframe: DIG_WireFrame_Create_New - note: there are 3 wireframes that describe this screen, please make sure to look at all of them)
3) Your Queries (Wireframe: DIG_WireFrame_Library)
4) Your Comparisons (Wireframe: DIG_WireFrame_Compare)

NOTE: See the wireframes (attached) to understand the screens / functionality needed for the DIG application. If anything is unclear, please ask for clarification on the forum and we will be happy to help!

Challenge Overview:

This project is focused on improving/revamping the front-end / UX (no backend changes are planned) of the client’s existing DIG application. The client has provided wireframes to give you an overview of the DIG application and the screens / functionality that need to be re-designed.  Total redesigns are encouraged!

For this challenge, the client would like to optimize the design of DIG’s front-end.  There may be ways to optimize the current wireframes or come up with something completely new that will result in a more innovative approach to how salespeople explore a data set to find high-probability buyers.  The client would like to figure out if there is a different way to present and analyze the data that would be more appealing and useful to the end users (sales people, independent agents, etc.).  We want you to focus on the overall application flow and user experience for this challenge - you may use placeholders for the charts / visualizations (we will expand on these in a follow up challenge).

Project Background:

DIG is an application being developed for finanial services clients to help them leverage the power of third party data and the client's proprietary algorithms to analyze, identify, and better target specific populations for product sales. It consists of a database - in which every adult in the US is scored for various propensities related to a financial product, including Likelihood to Buy and Likelihood to Qualify for the product - and a front-end visualization application for the end-user to query the information in the database.  The DIG team would like the re-design the application front-end to improve the screen designs, user flow, and overall user experience.

The current application is QlikView/SAS-based, so the re-designed screens will need to be designed accordingly.  The re-designed UX needs to be intuitive and easy to use.  We would love to see your ideas the help improve usability without slowing down a user (i.e. doesn’t add extra steps to the workflow).  Maybe some visual cues to direct users to specific areas?  We are open to your creative ideas for this app re-design!

Challenge Requirements:

In this challenge we want you to focus on the overall application flow for this challenge - you may use placeholders for the charts / visualizations and we will expand on these in a follow up challenge.

The provided wireframes are meant as a reference to give you an overview of the existing DIG application and the screens / functionality that need to be re-designed.  Total redesigns are encouraged!

RE-DESIGN BONUS: To encourage your creative ideas, we are offering a $100 bonus to any winning submission that completely re-designs the wireframes!  Basically, we need you to go beyond just adding colors and graphics to the existing wireframes. We want your UI / UX ideas to improve the DIG application.
