Challenge Summary
Welcome to Appirio - How It Works Infographic Design Challenge. The goal of this challenge is to create a design visualization that will describe the process of a project at Appirio and its phases.
Also, the infographic design should convert some provided information quickly and clearly.
Round 1
Checkpoint:
- We would like to review your info graphic and provide feedback.
Round 2
Final:
- Your final info graphic design and files.
- Any updates from the Checkpoint review.
Challenge Details:
Appirio is looking for a cool Infographic that illustrates the process of projects in topcoder. We want this graphic to be engaging! (Have fun creating it!).
You are encouraged to submit rough concepts for the Checkpoint (so we can provide you feedback on your directions and overall graphic/illustration choices) and then clean them up/finalize your design for Round 2. Please note that we are looking for infographics ONLY.
Design Considerations:
- We are looking for a cool, slick, professional Infographic that helps convey the message!
- This infographic will be used in websites.
- We want to simplify this infographic by not having too much text and look overly complicated. We're looking forward to more of a graphical representation
- The graphics should convince or compel viewers to understand the provided vision map
- Make sure your all elements in your designs are vectors, so it can be resized to any size.
- Please make sure you listed all Fonts you used on your design to avoid failed screening.
Supporting Documents:
- Current graphic (graphics.zip).
Design Guidelines:
- No istockphoto allowed in this contest. Use your own designs and illustrations.
- Create your design in the following resolutions:
-- Desktop: Width 1200px with height adjusting accordingly
-- Tablet: Width 1024px with height adjusting accordingly
-- Mobile: Width 750px with height adjusting accordingly
- Please follow this document for the style and colors of icons we currently use in our presentations, we would like to keep with this theme. Any graphic we create needs to blend in nicely with these:

Design Requirements:
- The basic flow needed in the infographic can be found below:
1. A lever graphic:
- Where we can convey that there are different levers we can pull in reference to how we structure the challenge prize package.
2. An org-chart type graphic:
- Where we can show how the project relates to the challenges. The project is the largest part, and each project is broken up into many different challenges. I often use an “umbrella” analogy, where the umbrella is the project and everything underneath are the challenges.
- We need separate graphics that represent challenges and projects that relate to above.
3. An updated version of the Engagement process:
- Engagement process.png is what we currently have.
- It has to show the following relationship: Client defines project→ Client partners with Community Architect to convey project vision→ Community Architect partners with a Copilot→ Copilot atomizes project→ Community competes in challenges→ Solution is delivered back to the client.
- Its important to note that all the words/text do not necessarily need to be included in the graphic, but we might want the ability to add text at some point, so there needs to be space to accommodate this.
4. Challenge timeline representing the 3 phases and associated sub-phases:
- Challenge timeline.png is what we currently have.
- Would like this to build on itself:
-- This means we would like to be able to hide the parts of the timeline that the client is not currently talking about -- so, during a live presentation, the client would like to show just phase 1 and the corresponding steps, then, build on that with adding phase 2 and the corresponding steps, then build on that with adding phase 3.
5. Process for clients:
- The process is: Identify Role → Identify Project → Define Objective → Gather Requirements → Work with Community Architect and Copilot → Answer Forum Questions → Provide Feedback → Select Winner.
6. Icon for a “pipeline” for work/projects:
- In the context of being able to identify which projects are lined up next.
Notes:
- Focus on the "Infographic" aspect of this - show us your concepts! We are interested in what stats should be shown in and how it should be illustrated.
- We need creative ideas represent the information inside infographic design.
- In Round one your design doesn't need to be perfect - show us your concepts, ideas and illustrations - so we can provide you feedback/art direction.
Important:
- Keep things consistent. This means all graphic styles should work together.
- All of the graphics should have a similar feel and general aesthetic appearance.
