Welcome to AppXpress – CogniStreamer Mobile App Design Challenge!

CogniStreamer is looking to provide a mobile app to their customers, which will allow their end-users to submit ideas to innovation challenges. The mobile app is connected with an existing web application through an API interface.  The web application serves as the backoffice for the app (launching new innovation challenges, user management, moderation, etc...).

The app should be very intuitive and easy to use (no training required).

You are provided with wireframes to guide you and make you understand what the client is looking for.

Challenge Description:
The goal of this application is to allow customers to access innovation challenges and submit ideas.

You are provided with wireframes so you can understand the application.

We are looking for the [topcoder] design Community to help us with planning our new "user experience" (UX).

Supporting Documents:
- Wireframes (Mobile Ideation App WireFrames V3.pdf.zip).
- Logo and Brand Identity Guidelines (Logo and Brand Identity Guidelines.pdf.zip).

Design Goals:
- How should this application be designed?
- Read the user flow and decide what should the priority features be (what is the priority navigation for this user?)
- How quickly the user can find what he wants? What should the priority features be?
- How quickly can the user understand and interact with the app?
- The application should be easy to use.
- Think simple but effective solutions! Have fun creating this - let us know how you think it should work!

Target devices:
- Mobile Resolution: Design for iPhone 6 Retina Display 750px x 1334px.
Make sure you create graphic in “vector” format, so when resize the graphic still look sharp! It will be great if you can provide the landscape version.

User Flow:
- Joshua logs in with username/password credentials (+ remember me) and company chooser.
- Joshua watches overview ("Pulse") of latest additions.
- Joshua goes to side menu with profile details and menu items (with badges).
- Joshua sees a list of challenges and navigates to the particular item.
- Joshua sees a challenge in detail (+ follow/un follow a challenge, like/unlike an idea).
- Joshua sees an idea in detail.
- Joshua follow/un follow and vote/un vote an idea.
- Joshua sees comments on an idea and adds a comment.
- Joshua likes, unlike and reply on a comment.
- Joshua adds an idea.
- Joshua receives push notifications, which open the notifications screen.
- Joshua sees a list of notifications and navigate to the particular item.

Main App Features:
1. Access innovation challenges submitted from an existing backoffice.
2. Choose a challenge and submit ideas.
3. Browse all submitted ideas.
4. Select ideas and post comments and likes.
5. Watch 'pulse' with of latest additions on the app.

Required Features:
1- As a user I want to log in with username/password credentials (+ remember me) and company chooser.
2- As a user I want to get a new password when I forgot mine.
3- As a user I want to be welcomed back and have the ability to change the logged in user.
4- As a logged in user I want an overview ("Pulse") of latest additions.
5- As a logged in user I want to have a side menu with profile details and menu items (with badges).
6- As a logged in user I want to log out.
7- As a logged in user I want to edit my profile.
8- As a logged in user I want to change my profile picture (no zoom, no crop).
9- As a logged in user I want to view and undo my subscriptions.
10- As a logged in user I want to see a list of notifications and navigate to the particular item.
11- As a logged in user I want to see a list of challenges.
12- As a logged in user I want to see a challenge in detail (+ follow/unfollow a challenge, like/unlike an idea).
13- As a logged in user I want to see an idea in detail (minus tab bar, comments).
14- As a logged in user I want to follow/unfollow and vote/unvote an idea.
15- As a logged in user I want to see comments on an idea and add a comment.
16- As a logged in user I want to like, unlike and reply on a comment.
17- As a commenting user I want to mention other users in my comment.
18- As a logged in user I want to invite others to participate in an idea.
19- As a logged in user I want to add an idea.
20- As an offline user I want to add an idea when offline and have it synced later.
21- As a user I want to receive push notifications, which open the notifications screen.

Challenge Requirements:
1) Review the required features and provided wireframes:
- How can the functions and navigation be optimized? 
- How should things be grouped to keep the experience useful and simple
- What features need to be prominent and what features can be found?

Important:
- Keep things consistent. This means all graphic styles should work together.
- All of the graphics should have a similar feel and general aesthetic appearance

Target audience:
- This could be any individual in the role of employee, customer, end-user, lead-users, researcher, student or a freelancer.

Judging Criteria:
- How well you plan the user experience and capture your ideas visually.
- Cleanliness of your graphics and design.
- Creativity and ease-of-use is key to the success as it must be engaging to users.
- Making the site something they would check and potentially participate.

Submission & Source Files:
Preview Image
Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024px JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it.

Submission File
Submit JPG/PNG for your submission files.

Source Files
All original source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Photoshop and saved as layered PSD file, or Adobe Illustrator as a layered AI file.

Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify your graphics (sizes or colors) or modify overall colors. We may ask you to update your design or graphics based on checkpoint feedback.

Please read the challenge specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this challenge. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.
