Challenge Summary

Welcome to Exponentials App - News Section and Global Tags Design Challenge! We have ran a few design challenges already to establish and refine the initial look and feel for the Exponentials app.
We are now looking for your help in refining and expanding on the designs and look and feel that we currently have started and established.

Round 1

Submit your designs for a Checkpoint feedback:
- News Section (all proposed screens and user flow).
- Global Tag.
- Additional Documentation.
- If you have time - please provide us with a click map for your design.
- Readme.jpg : Provide notes about your submission.
- Make sure all pages have correct flow! Use correct file numbering. (00, 01, 02, 03).

Round 2

Final designs plus any Checkpoint feedback:
- News Section (all proposed screens and user flow).
- Global Tag.
- Additional Documentation.
- If you have time - please provide us with a click map for your design.
- Readme.jpg : Provide notes about your submission.
- Make sure all pages have correct flow! Use correct file numbering. (00, 01, 02, 03).

The goal of this challenge is to design a News section and an idea of Global Tags for the Exponentials app. The most important thing is that visually these 2 new additions should match the rest of the current app.

Background Information:
Exponentials will serve as a tool to educate users and help them understand all the different exponential technologies; what they are, how they are impacting industries and are evolving over time. The app will create a natural, immersive user experience filled with visualizations and other dynamic and ever changing multimedia content. Think about how you interact with YouTube or Wikipedia. It’s very easy to just get lost in the content by clicking from video to video or article to article; this is the same experience we want for users of Exponentials.

Branding Guidelines:
- We’ve included a branding doc for Exponentials.
- The majority of your design styles will come from the supplied PSDs. Your designs should match the current designs that are already established. We are NOT looking for new branding ideas; just new UX and layouts.
- Any new modules or components should match the current designs and styles.

Design Requirements:
- iPad resolution: 2048 x 1536px at 264dpi (length can extend to fit your designs).

Supporting Documents:
Source PSDs (Google Folder): All current screens to pull design assets from.
- Branding Doc: Color palette and fonts. (Exponentials---Branding.jpg).
InVision click through: This will give you a good idea of how the app is currently flowing together. This is still a work-in-progress, but use it more for reference.
- Inspiration Document: Examples of some news apps and readers to get you inspired and thinking in the right direction for functionality. (News and Tags - Design Inspiration.zip)
- Draft of what the home page of the app is going to look like (Concept.png).

Required Screens/ Views:
News Section:
- We are looking for this news section landing screen to be a stand-alone page or section that is separate from the "Advanced Robotics" technology news screen (that we have provided you with in the PSD files and Invision click through).
- We have included a new image (Concept.png) with a draft of what the home page of the app is going to look like - before users dive into one of the three sections including technology, industry, and news (for example - the screens in the PSD files that are provided will appear when users select the "Technology" view):
- This news section design that you are creating will be the page that appears once users select the "News" option from this home screen.
- We want this news section landing page to be an engaging and stylish all-inclusive page where users can find everything related to news rather than having a more limited view as seen in the advanced robotics news section that is provided in the PSD files.
- We only want you to use the news section that is already created in the provided files as inspiration for what your landing screen should generally include.
- We just wanted to reiterate that the design you create will be a completely separate page and section from all of the screens that were provided in the source PSDs.
- Design a highly engaging and visually impressive news landing screen. This is a site-wide news section and will be compiling all of the news stories from all of the 13 technologies and industries.
- The landing page should be high functional and should include some additional views or filtering functionality. Think about things like: most popular, most viewed, highest rated, my favorite articles, etc. These could all be filtering mechanics or alternate views.
- You could also approach the idea of “views” as a way to change or reconfigure how the landing page looks; masonry, tiles, categories, etc.
- Think about what would be beneficial to the user to navigate and view a large number of news articles across different categories, sections and subject matter.
- We are open and looking for your ideas and suggestions. Just make sure you are fitting within the current branding and designs and of the app.
- Make sure you are explaining and showing your ideas clearly and are showing us the entire user flow. If we don’t understand what is happening we cannot properly evaluate your solution.

Global Tags:
- The idea of global tags is something that will allow the user to explore and move between different sections of the app seamlessly. For example, one article or story might have a set of tags that are the same as another article in a different technology or section of the app. The user can select this tag and view all of the articles and content with that same tag. This opens up endless exploration and creates a “web” of content within the app.
- We currently have a very rough and quick exploration of how tags could work in the designs. This is one example of how this could work (see the InVision app). However, we want to explore this idea of tagging further. We want you to apply it to different screens within the app, and see your ideas on how they all connect.
- Is there a way to use tags (some sort of visualization) in a way that allows users to navigate and explore within the app solely using these tags? Is there a dynamic navigation structure (similar to d3js) that could help a user explore these tags?
- We are open to your ideas, concepts and suggestions. Think outside the box and show us something groundbreaking. Maybe it’s a new way to think about tags all together?
- Your solution should work across news articles, static content, user studies, etc. It should work anywhere within the app. So think globally.
- We would like to see this tagging functionality applied to all included PSD screens that you think would be relevant (also include any additional views or screens that you believe are necessary to portray your thoughts and ideas)
- Make sure you are explaining and showing your ideas clearly and are showing us the entire user flow. If we don’t understand what is happening we cannot properly evaluate your solution.

Additional Documentation:
If possible, please provide a short description or explanation to go along with your ideas for the global tag functionality to help us better understand your design concepts as well as the overall user flow that you are envisioning.

Target Audience:
- Anyone who wants to learn about exponential technologies.

Judging Criteria:
You will be judged on:
-- How well does your design align with the objectives of the challenge.
-- Creativity of your visualizations.
-- Cleanliness of your graphics and design.
-- Overall Design and User Experience.
