Challenge Overview
Taking the application developed by James Frost, for his great iOSDevUk presentation on Auto Layout, as a base; your goal is to add a unique feature to the application making use of of iOS 9/ watchOS 2 features.
The git repo is available here: https://github.com/frosty/auto-layout-101-cymru
The top prize for this competition is $1100. There are also 4 runner up prizes of $100 each. To make sure that the applications are as diverse as possible, the unique features developed have to be unique across all submissions, so keep your ideas safe!!
The rules of the competition are simple: if two contestants submit the same or very similar ideas, then both are disqualified from winning the top prize (but are eligible for the runner up prizes).
This is a perfect time to try out ideas discussed during the conference! Have it handle fetching of data in the background using Background Transfer Service as discussed by Gwendolyn. Use AutoLayout for building your UI components as discussed by James Frost and debug it using the hard earned knowledge of Martin Pilkington. Create a WatchOS2 app as shown by Mic Pringle, or use any of the other great ideas and topics discussed throughout the conference.
Use this as your opportunity to put into practise ideas from throughout the conference and learn about the topcoder community and platform. Topcoder is about learning, having fun and competing so don’t be afraid to try out crazy ideas.
We will make all the submissions available on Github after the deadline. This will allow you to take a look through the other contestants code. See the ideas people had that they thought would beat yours. See what crazy code golf that they tried. See how they structured their applications. Or see how some common ObjectiveC features translated into Swift 2.
