Welcome to AppXpress – Dionysus Cinema Mobile App Design Concepts Challenge!

This challenge is focused on creating design concepts/visual ideas to create a Mobile/Tablet App to allow moviegoers to search for movies or theaters and purchase tickets and allow them to view content and comment. We would also love to see some ideas around leveraging a loyalty program and gamification to drive loyalty.

In this contest we are looking for DESIGN CONCEPTS on how this Mobile Application could work. What should the user see and experience when using the application?

Concept Description:
The ultimate goal of the app is to sell more tickets to the movies.

We are looking for the [topcoder] design Community to help us with planning our new "user experience" (UX).

Note: Dionysus is code name for client.

Design Guidelines:
- Branding and colors are open to what you think is better for this App.

Design Goals:
- How should this application be designed?
- How quickly the user can find what he wants? What should the priority features be?
- How quickly can the user understand and interact with the app?
- The application should be easy to use.
- Think simple but effective solutions! Have fun creating this - let us know how you think it should work!

Screen Sizes:
- Mobile Resolution: Design for iPhone 6 Retina Display 750px x 1334px.
- Tablet Resolution: Design for iPad 2 Retina Display 1536px x 2048px
Make sure you create graphic in 'shape' format, so when we resize graphics will still look sharp! It will be great if you can provide the landscape version.

Main Features:
1. See movies available, watch trailers and add comments.
2. Purchase tickets to specific movie showtimes and at specific theatres within app.
3. Add movies to "wish list".
4. Stream content from other brand channels (e.g., You Tube).
5. More gamification around social and movie-going activity.
6. Show history with loyalty program.

User Flow:
- Maia is a moviegoer.
- Maia opens the app and search for show times by movie or theater.
- After selecting the show that she wants to go for she will be able to purchase tickets.
- Maia will also be able to provide social commentary on movies.
- Maia will be able to view content.
- Maia can build status in Loyalty program through gamification elements.

This is a design concepts challenge and those are only suggested screens from us, so please feel free to add anything you think will work good for this app.
0) Navigation:
- How does the user navigate this application?
- Include navigation that you think fits with this application.
- Focus on the priority items and how things should be sized.

1) Sign Up Page:
- User will need to enter:
-- Name.
-- Email Address.
-- Mobile Number.
- We need a register button here.

2) Login Page:
- User will need to enter:
-- Username.
-- Password.
- We need login button and forgot your password links.
- Please show validation error screen too.

3) Movies Page:
- The application will locate the closest cinema and list the latest movies to the user.
- User will be able to search for show times by movie name or theater.
- User can filter movies by:
-- Now Showing.
-- Next Release.
-- Coming Soon.
- Upon clicking on any movie the user will be redirected to movie details page.

4) Movie Details Page:
- From this view user will be able to view movie trailer.
- User will also be able to view movie credits.
- Read movie synopsis.
- See movie rating.
- Read/Write comments about the movie.
- There will be a prominent “Book Now” button, once clicked:
-- User can select theater.
-- The day he wants to watch the movie in.
-- Select show time.

5) Select Seats Page:
- From this page user will be able to view sold and available seats.
- User can select the seats he likes.
- After selecting the seats user can click a “proceed” button.

6) Make a Payment Page:
- User will select how he would like to pay:
-- Credit/Debit Card.
-- See a summary of his selections and the amount he should pay.
- Pay money after entering the payment information:
-- Card Number,
-- Expiry Date (MM)/(YYYY).
-- Verification Code.
-- I agree to Terms and Conditions (Checkbox).

7) Loyalty Program Page:
- Here we are looking for your ideas for loyalty program via gamification.

Important:
- Keep things consistent. This means all graphic styles should work together.- All of the graphics should have a similar feel and general aesthetic appearance

Target Audience:
- All moviegoers but with an emphasis on younger Moviegoers 13-29 years old.

Judging Criteria:
- How well you plan the user experience and capture your ideas visually.
- Cleanliness of your graphics and design.
- Your design should possible to build and make sense as a mobile application.

Submission & Source Files:
Preview Image
Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024px JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it.

Submission File
Submit JPG/PNG for your submission files.

Source Files
All original source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Photoshop and saved as layered PSD file, or Adobe Illustrator as a layered AI file.

Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify your graphics (sizes or colors) or modify overall colors. We may ask you to update your design or graphics based on checkpoint feedback.

Please read the challenge specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this challenge. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.
