Challenge Summary
Welcome to AppXpress – Gift Chimp Mobile App Design Challenge!
Our client have recognized that typical celebrations such as birthdays and graduations result in wasted effort and money on gifts. Children tend to receive too many small gifts that may not be age appropriate and / or may never be used. Although well intentioned and appreciated the many small gifts we receive clutter our homes only to later be wastefully purged.
As parents we dread the day of, pre-party run to the big box store. We’ve all been there. At least 45 minutes of your weekend with kids begging for toys and candy. Besides wasting your time, that $20 gift just cost you $45 to get out the door. And don’t forget the gift receipt so the receiving parent can go through the same process with their children.
For older recipients it can be challenging to purchase a gift that aligns with their real interests – In most cases it will end up being returned.
This leads into further discussions around a mechanism that would allow for no hassle responsible gift giving (i.e., give gifts that recipients actually want that provide both short and long term benefit).

Challenge Description:
GiftChimp is a gifting site designed by parents with a focus on simplicity and responsibility. It can be for Birthdays, Graduations and all Special Life Events. GiftChimp is intended to help you take a deep breath and enjoy the process while teaching your children some money management and social responsibility skills along the way. GiftChimp will even be able to help remind and assist you with sending “Thank You” letters after an event. With GiftChimp you will be able to crowd fund a gift they really want. It can be a new bike, an iPhone, an Xbox or anything else they choose.
After the event you can Accept gifts as given or choose to combine the value of the gifts to purchase other gifts. Also, transfer a portion to a College Savings Account and/or Donate to your favorite Charities i.e. a local food bank.
