Welcome to Sun Shot – MySunBuddy Logo Design Challenge!
We currently have a logo that we came came up with during a hackathon under some very tight deadlines. While, we like its simplicity, it does not reflect the solar or renewable energy aspects of the platform.
We are looking for a simple, clean and inviting logo. Show us your best work!!
Round 1
Submit your design for a Checkpoint feedback:
- Initial Logo Design solution for checkpoint review.
- Please use the provided template to submit your logo's
- Please explain your design with notes that will help us understand the meaning/purpose of your logo.
- We are interested in ideas and would love to hear your concept behind the logo.
Round 2
Final Design plus any Checkpoint feedback:
- Final Logo Design solution by implementing any checkpoint feedback from client.
- Please use the provided template to submit your logo's
- Please explain your design with notes that will help us understand the meaning/purpose of your logo.
- We are interested in ideas and would love to hear your concept behind the logo.
Challenge Description:
The goal of this challenge is to design the logo for My Sun Buddy application based on the requirements below.
The key themes we are looking for in a new design are a reference to solar energy as well of a sense of building community. The sense of community was why we incorporated a handshake in the original logo, but are very open to new ideas.
Logo Requirements:
- We would like the logo to be professional and conservative
- Follow the colors based on the Branding Information.
- Designs must be created as VECTOR artwork so they can be resized without a loss of quality. Make sure your logo quality is not diminished when scaled up or down.
- The logo should grasp the message of the logo design within three seconds of the first glimpse.
- You need make sure your logo looks okay above light or dark background by submitting them in white and black backgrounds.

- Branding Information (Design Specifications.docx.zip).
- Logo Template (Logo Template_v4 2.ai.zip).
Required Logos:
We would like to have few version of logo designs..
- Please look to include a single page with all the below versions of logo's for review (you may use the attached template)
1) Logo/Icon:
- Create an icon or logo that relates to the concept.
- Create a black and white version and a also a color version of this icon..
2) Logo with Logotype:
- Create a version of your logo and pair it with the name of the site "My Sun Buddy".
- Submit one version of AI/EPS logo file with text intact (not outlined) and another version of AI/EPS logo file with text in outlined format.

Target Audience:
- Anyone that wants to take advantage of solar power and generate or save money.
Judging Criteria:
- Relevance: Does your logo convey the meaning of the name?
- Quality: Does your logo look fresh, professional and clean? Is the composition/layout well done?
- Have you used typography in a meaningful way?
Submission & Source Files:
Preview Image
Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024px JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it.
Submission File
Submit JPG/PNG image files based on contest submission requirements stated above.
Source Files
All original VECTOR source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Illustrator or similar and saved as layered AI or EPS file. Your source files must meet these requirements:
1) The AI/EPS logo file with text intact (not outlined).
2) The AI/EPS logo file with text in outlined format.
Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify your graphics (sizes or colors) or modify overall colors.
