Challenge Summary
Welcome to Topcoder Connect - Survey Pulse Mobile App Design Concepts Challenge!
This challenge is focused on creating design concepts/visual ideas to create an application for Survey Pulse Mobile Application to let users input their mood/fun factor and ENPS when they feel like it but also has options for periodically pushing a survey request for a pulse survey or for a longer engagement survey as well as open comments for feedback.
NOTE: This challenge will use a new experimental format that we'd like to try out. For details, see the information we posted about it here. The main difference will be how the checkpoint feedback and visibility is handled. Please ask any questions you have in the challenge forum.
Round 1
Submit your design for a Checkpoint feedback:
1. Your initial design concept.
- If you have time - please provide us with a click map for your design.

- Make sure all pages have correct flow! Use correct file numbering. (00, 01, 02, 03).
Round 2
Final Design plus any Checkpoint feedback:
1. Your final design concept.
- If you have time - please provide us with a click map for your design.
- Readme.jpg : Provide notes about your submission.
- Make sure all pages have correct flow! Use correct file numbering. (00, 01, 02, 03).
Challenge Description:
The pulse survey app lets users input their mood/fun factor and ENPS (Employee Net Promoter Score. It's based on the question "On a scale of 0-10 would you recommend us to a friend or colleague”) and comments when they feel like it but also has options for periodically pushing a survey request for a pulse survey or for a longer engagement survey as well as open comments for feedback. The app data is anonymous but can be rolled up by manager if the number of responses is more than 3 during the reporting cycle. Users will have the ability to fill in their preferences for filling in a longer or shorter form of survey questions. Ability to push added survey questions at company meetings or events where we get “in the moment ratings”.
We are looking for the [topcoder] design Community to help us with planning our new "user experience" (UX).
Screen Sizes:
- Mobile Resolution: Design for iPhone 6 Retina Display 750px x 1334px.
Make sure you create graphic in 'shape' format, so when we resize graphics will still look sharp! It will be great if you can provide the landscape version.
Supporting Documents:
- Branding Guidelines (AppirioStyleGuide_2016_a.pdf)
- Dashboard Samples (Screenshots.zip).
Design Considerations:
- Your design needs to be responsive; please consider that while designing the pages.
- Focus on the user experience of each page and make sure each page has a complete flow.
- Give importance to the overall layout and think about how a user would interact with the content on the page.
- Show all the screens and provide a user flow/click-path, so we can see how the interactions fit together in the application.
Main Features:
1- Email Login:
- Allow users to register and log in using their email address and a password. Users can also change their password or recover a forgotten one.
2- Introductions:
Present your app and inform users of core functionality using a series of introductory screens before they sign up.
3- Onboarding:
- Virtually walk your users through your application. This functionality is especially useful if you need new users to set up an account or express preferences after they sign up.
4- Search:
- Users should be able to search for surveys but not for other users locations etc.
5- Notifications:
- We need reminders to complete surveys or to update personal information.
6- Tags:
- Tag feedback to categories.
7- Admin Functionality:
- Admin will have the ability to add users and deactivate users, design surveys, push surveys, gather results, etc.
8- Account Settings:
- Specify when users would like to receive surveys, how often, select to be anonymous or not, etc
9- Dashboard:
- Only admins, and managers of direct reports + exec team should be able to see roll ups (The information of survey responses rolled up to the team level. E.g. If I'm a manager and have 10 people reporting to me, I want to see my team's responses. If I'm a VP I would want to see my region's responses but also be able to drill down into the detail.). We would like to limit the roll up content for each audience.
10- Help:
- Include a section dedicated to FAQ or Help content.
11- Ratings & Reviews:
- Let users rate or review people, products, or services.
12- Profiles:
- The profile should have the ability to be anonymous or not, mask usernames, publish only certain information like Line of Business and Tenure (time with the company).
User Roles:
1- Appirio HR and ET (Executive Team):
- Appirio would like to gather employee feedback in an easy and mobile manner to understand the health of the organization and collect feedback on what is going well as well as how to improve. This info should be easy to access in a dashboard but also have the ability to drill down to the manager and individual level. This survey should have masked IDs so that it’s anonymous and security settings so that only certain people in the organization can access it down to the employee data level. Regional Leads, ET, and Managers should have access to view rolled up results but not specific employee identifiers. We’d like to be able to report MoM, QoQ, YoY, by manager, by time frame, by categorized feedback type, by region, and against an internal benchmark of other regions. We will also need to see the ratings roll up at a company level and response rate. Ability to assign categories to comments to be able to roll up to a dashboard or to have the app auto-review comments and categorize them.
2- User:
- I want to give updates on my fun factor and ENPS and other feedback (comments, survey responses, etc) on employee engagement when I determine with specific settings that I choose. I want to be able to have my tenure (The length of time that someone is with the company. We'd want to see it in categories. 0-6 months, 7 months - 1 year, 1-2 years, 3-4 years, 5+ years), region, manager and other information entered once and then automatically reported out with each survey to eliminate the need to fill it in each time. I want the experience to be self-directed to determine the settings for when and how often they would like to give feedback. Shake my phone to get a random survey question or questions I can answer.
3- Manager:
- I’d like to be able to see the roll up my team’s fun factor and ENPS scores on a regular basis. I want to be able to read comments but the survey taker information will be masked for me. I will only be able to get a roll up of my team down to the manager level if 3 or more direct reports fill in a survey.
4- Regional Lead:
- I’d like to be able to see the roll up my regional team’s fun factor and ENPS scores on a monthly basis as well as read comments anonymously. I’d like to be able to drill down to the team level to view the scores and comments at a manager level. I’d like to be able to view my region’s feedback, MoM, QoQ, YoY and against an internal benchmark of other regions.
