Challenge Summary

Welcome to "Digital Bank Creation Mobile Android App Design Concepts Challenge". We are looking for your help to create a modern, clean, and intuitive mobile (Android focused) application that will provide bank customers with new and innovative banking features at the tip of their fingers – improving the banking customer's experience. Customers will require access to basic banking self-service features (e.g. view transactions, changing contact information, requesting checks / cards), but we would also like you to be creative and identify new and different capabilities that a customer may desire. We want designers to focus on the UI/UX interactions and bringing clean, modern, new and different solutions to how this application should work (specifically around non-financial transactions). What should the user see and experience when using the application? What are new and creative banking features and capabilities that a user may desire? How can a mobile banking application improve the customer's banking experience and brand loyalty? The primary focus of this challenge should be on exploring how non-financial transactions that banking customers currently perform at physical locations can be accomplished in a mobile application.

Round 1

Please submit screens 1-5 (see screen requirements below) and additional ideas

Round 2

Please submit screens 1-6+ (see screen requirements below) and additional ideas

Background Overview
A large public sector Indian Bank would like to explore the art of the possible for banking and customer engagement through creation of a digital bank. Specifically, the bank would like to explore design concepts for an innovative application that will encourage customers to transition from physical to digital and facilitate improved customer experience through digital engagement.

Today, close to 80% of the bank's non-financial transactions (e.g. adding a nominee, changing of address / phone number, request for check books / debit cards) still happen in the physical branches.  We want to change that by generating innovative design concepts that move non-financial transactions to the application.

Non-financial transactions = transactions that a banking customer performs in relation to their account (but not including typical financial transactions). For example:
- Update account details
-- Change of address
-- Change contact details
- Consolidation of folios / accounts
- Register / Change / Cancel Nominations (Nomination = beneficiary if something happens to primary account holder).
- See “Key features to include” section below for additional details about non-financial transactions and features to include.

Challenge Goals
We are looking for the best design concepts that explore new and creative ideas for online non-financial transaction banking capabilities. We are looking for designers who create both a simple and intuitive user experience, while also bringing innovative banking features and capabilities that would help the bank explore the art of the possible.

Design Problem
We would like to emphasize that these design concepts will help our client explore the art of the possible for digital banking and customer engagement, specifically for non-financial banking transactions (e.g. changing address, adding nominee, requesting debit card). As such, there are not strict requirements or guidelines for these designs.

We encourage you to think about how you would use and access mobile banking platforms and use your insights and experiences to generate your designs. We want you to include new and different ideas for banking features / capabilities that will provide customers a better experience and transition non-financial banking transactions from the physical branch to the online channel.

As the world comes online and more and more people have access to smart devices, banks around the world are deploying digital engagement strategies and platforms. A few examples of truly innovative and new ideas are listed below. Use these to help get you thinking about the art of the possible and what you will include in your designs.

Examples of Digital Banking Innovation:
1. Self-service end-to-end mortgage process: An Australian bank took the mortgage process digital and partnered with multiple home listing databases to develop a mobile app to search any house in the database for visual and written details, to engage customers at the beginning of their home buying journeys.  Customers can click through to get advice, then start the mortgage application online or book an appointment with a mortgage adviser in a nearby branch.

2. Full-service bank on your smart device: In South Korea, a bank now offers a "full-service bank" in a smartphone, working seamlessly with the branches. Customers can withdraw cash from ATMs via their smartphones, parents can send money to their children via their mobiles, and it includes near-field payments technology that can be used to pay at many stores. Additionally, the platform leverages engaging location-based offers and coupons, as well as the ability to borrow for larger purchases while in the store.

3. Matching customers with products through machine learning: La Caixa, for example, within its e-banking service (Linea Abierta) has developed a service called Real Time Decision to improve the customers' interaction with La Caixa's Home Banking service. The technology helps consistently make the best possible decisions in real time, automatically and using self-learning techniques, making use of all the information the bank has available on the customer. The bank will offer customers products that match their interests on the basis of real-time analysis.

Key features to include:
In addition to your new and creative ideas, the banking application should include non-financial customer banking features, including:
- Customers must be able to change their contact information (including address and phone number)
- Customers must be able to request check books / debit cards
- Customers should be able to change nominees
- Bank should be able to engage with customer through the digital channel through providing live support, pushing offers / coupons based on mobile location, and connecting customers with a personal bank representative

As smart devices become equally viable as a method of payment as cards and physical brick and mortar branches become obsolete - it is important we think through the various features a user will want via a mobile application!

Screen Requirements:
-- Android mobile design concepts
-- Around 8-10 screens (or more if necessary) that walk the user from login to various banking features / capabilities depending on your ideas
