Challenge Summary

Welcome to the Project CONNECT Vision Map Design Challenge. This challenge is part of a new series of design challenges that will be run for this 2016 project.

This challenge is to create the project CONNECT vision map, which will be used to guide the project team member’s through the next year, through the end of the project. This is also the customer team’s introduction to the Topcoder Community, and will be followed by challenges which will define the user interface of the final product.

Round 1

Initial concept for the Vision Map
- Readme.jpg: If needed, provide notes about your submission

Round 2

Final concept for the Vision Map
- Readme.jpg: If needed, provide notes about your submission

Your challenge here will be to take the provided project vision elements and combine them into an engaging one page graphic that will make it easy for project team members to comprehend the project vision. The resulting vision map will be used throughout the 2016 project lifecycle, as a reminder of what is important for this project.

Design Problem
The purpose of this challenge is to take the provided input (VisionMap-BJF_Final.png, we have also provided a pptx to help grab any text) and create a graphic version which conveys the message in a visually engaging way, which is very easy for the user to understand. Please do not just “skin” (add color and “boxes”) the provided input, but instead create a beautiful and unique  vision roadmap.

General Requirements:
- The current importance of messaging (information hierarchy) must be maintained
- The most important messaging is near the top (story and guiding principles) and the less important details of those messages are near the bottom (attributes and measures).
- Use smart visual design elements, such as : typography, color, design elements, etc (and do not just rely on layout / order of information) to reinforce this logic hierarchy for the user.
- Documentation: Finally please include a “read me” file explaining how your design is meant to reinforce messaging.

NOTE:
- You must include a placeholder "Logo" element in some corner of the graphic (This does not need to be large / dominant on the design, but must be included so we can drop in the logo after the challenge end.)
- The word “CONNECT” must appear in all caps!
- The customer likes the idea of also using icons to reinforce the main concepts, so feel free to create these.
- The vision map graphic will be used in many ways / many sizes - posters, web, documents, videos, emails, etc - and so it must be vector / scalable and should be laid out in a standard video or “sheet of paper / landscape mode” ratio, which will translate well for any of these use cases.

Design goals:
- Strong messaging
- Clear / easy to read text - especially for key messaging
- A design style / graphic components that are aligned with and reinforce the key messaging
- White space / “Breathing Room” so that the user does not feel overwhelmed (there is a lot of information here, try to make it easier to digest and less confusing with good use of white space / “breathing room” around the elements

BRAND Requirements:
The following requirements and restrictions come directly from the customer’s BRAND RULES and you must follow them carefully.
- Note that FLAT styling is allowed only / No use of gradients, bevel, drop shadow, etc styling  allowed for any element in the submission.

COLORS (PDF pages #1-3):
Please see the Resource PDF for these notes. You may ONLY use the provided colors (see PDF) in your submission.
PDF page #1 : allowed primary colors
PDF page #2 : allowed secondary colors (note: please only use a small number of secondary colors and do not overwhelm the user with too many colors)
PDF page #3 : allowed color tints

ICONOGRAPHY (PDF page #4):
- Please see the Resource PDF for these notes. The customer asks that we use a style for any new icons, which is similar / would work well with their existing icon styles as seen in  PDF page #4.
- Keep icons SIMPLE and professional looking.
- FLAT styling only / No use of any gradients, bevel, drop shadow, etc is allowed.
- Note that the box around the “reverse” icon style is not required (just there to show a colored background would exist) and also icon colors are open to designers.

TYPOGRAPHY (PDF page #5):
Please see the Resource PDF for these notes. The customer uses the “DIN” font family but is not legally allowed to share this font. If you have this DIN font in your library, please use it. If not, please use something similar to what we show in PDF page #5.
- FLAT styling only / No use of any gradients, bevel, drop shadow, etc is allowed.

Target Audience:
- Internal employees (project team members) of the client company

Judging Criteria:
We will be judging on:
- How well does your design align with the objectives of the challenge
- Creativity of your visualization
