Challenge Summary
Welcome to Bible.is Audio Player Mobile Design Concepts Challenge!
Faith Comes By Hearing is an organization which provides the Bible in audio form to people around the world in a myriad of different languages. One of the issues they are encountering is that there isn’t always a written language to display with their current Bible.is app. The interface of the Bible.is applications is (understandbly) very text-centered. Users navigate through the app by selecting Bible Versions and Chapter and can see the text highlighted as the verses are read in the application. But this obviously won’t work in places where there is no written language. We are looking for you to design a captivating and iconically driven audio player-type user interface and overall app that functions with no to very limited use of text as possible.
We are looking for you to define the initial design direction for this application by using best UX practices.
Good luck! We are looking forward to your designs!

Faith Comes By Hearing is an organization which provides the Bible in audio form to people around the world in a myriad of different languages. The audio is delivered via Android and iOS applications. If you’d like to see one of these current applications in action you can download it here:

FCBH distributes the audio Bible in some very remote places. One of the issues they are encountering is that there isn’t always a written language to display with their current Bible.is app. The interface of the Bible. Is applications is (understandbly) very text-centered. Users navigate through the app by selecting Bible Versions and Chapter and can see the text highlighted as the verses are read in the application. But this obviously won’t work in places where there is no written language. A captivating audio player-type user interface will also be useful in the first world for Bible radio-type usage.
Required Screen / Audio Player:
- For this challenge, please design a user-friendly mobile audio interface to allow users to navigate through languages, regions, versions of the Bible (there are often multiple versions of the Bible for many languages), and Bible chapter (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, etc). Note: The design should be iconic so that users can understand and navigate through the application even with limited literacy.
- Please take a look at client's current audio player (links above). Current player is great for versions of the Bible that have text to associate with the audio, but not so good for audio only versions of the Bible (where there will be no text to be shown). Client is trying to create is a audio player that looks and works well without text to support it.
- The other main issue for the client is what to show on the screen that is engaging and makes senses when there is no text to go along with the audio.
- Include all basic controls (like play, pause, stop, seek, audio controls, mute, etc)
- Looking forward to your design concepts!
In addtions in these, we are looking for additions that will set your design apart from the other designs.
- Do you have a means to mark your favorite audio?
- Have you provided add the ablity to share?
- Do you add links out or an about section?
