Challenge Summary
Welcome to the DineEquity Franchise Community Responsive Website Design Challenge!
As one of the largest full-service dining companies in the world, DineEquity aims to build a community site that offers tools to restaurant owners (part of the DineEquity family) allowing them to engage in a community experience (social and fun) and manage their franchise assets.
The scope comes down to basically three unique (3) pages only! It's that short. Jump in now.
*** ROLLING CHECKPOINT ***
There will be a rolling checkpoint round. Those designers who send a submission before Friday 19th 5PM EST will receive an early feedback about the progress of their design, ANY PAGE will do, even if it's only one.
The goal of this challenge is to create design concepts for a responsive website. It’s a community-focused site that serves as a corporate interaction tool between a store manager of a franchise and DineEquity.
We want it to be social, fun and but keeping with the professional image of DineEquity Branding. DineEquity has two brands - IHOP and Applebee's - that their store managers can work for. The brands are big part of the culture and they will both be in the same community. This means we want the community recognize if the user works for IHOP or Applebee’s when they login.
You’re provided with VERY ROUGH mockups of the site. This is for you to get a sense of the pages but please come up with better flows for the information that is going to be displayed. You’re totally encouraged to come up with your own concepts that better suit your solution.
Branding Guidelines
- Follow DineEquityGuidelines.pdf for logo, colors and fonts usage .
- DineEquity MUST BE THE PRIMARY branding option to consider, meaning the design must feel part of DineEquity (header, footer, fonts, feeling, and so son).
- Applebee’s or IHOP logo must be wisely used as secondary branding element (sub-theme) to identify the restaurant owner origin (they can come from either franchises).
- We are not allowed to use the logos so far though. So use placeholders instead.
- The site must look fun, fresh and professional at the same time
Design Concept Goals
- The UI/UX should be intuitive (minimal instructions needed) and visually appealing.
- Designs must cover the entire functionality.
- Come up with an unique solution. DO NOT JUST RESKIN the provided mockups.
Screen Specifications
- Desktop: 1280px width. Height as much as needed.
- Mobile: 480px x 720px. Portrait Only.
- Make sure you create graphic in shape format, so when resizing for other versions, graphic still look sharp!
Screens Requirements
- Follow the provided mockups (Mockup.zip) as a start point. Remember YOU MUST come up with better flows and propose what’s best for your solution.
1. Login
- See page #1 in mockup.
- We want a clean landing page for the login that keeps it simple and encourages people to come in to the community and engage.
- Notice there is no registration. Not necessary.
2. Home
- See page #2 in mockup.
- This is the main page of the community and also sets the tone for the rest of the interactions. This is the one stop shop for the restaurant owner to get information and get excited about what’s going on with their restaurant brand.
- User must recognize easily which franchise he belongs to, Applebee’s or IHOP. It must be highlighted (sub-themed) somehow within the pages.
- User must also have access to the following features:
-- A feed of social post/news (similar to Facebook’s feed).
-- Be able to select from featured articles, discussion and store news. It’s a tabs component.
-- Be welcomed individually including their Name, Profile Photo, and Store Photo (Local Restaurant photo). We want it VERY WELCOMING!
-- See a search bar (not necessary to implement a search results page).
-- Use navigation menu to get to their cases, brand pages, and assessments.
3. Assessments (Survey)
- See page #3 in mockup.
- This page offer access to different surveys that allow restaurant owners to answer questions and attach images. There are 4 main views for a survey.
- You might consider adding progress indicator and creating an easy-to-use flow.
- Display design and workflow for the survey process, including:
-- Account List
-- Survey List
-- Question Detail
-- Answer Summary
