The goal of this challenge is to create visual design concepts for the UNAIDS GARPR Visual Dashboard based on the functionality listed below. In simple terms, the vision we are looking to create is the “Online Tax Preparation Software” equivalent for HIV monitoring & evaluation - to make the process of data entry and visualization easy, fun and productive, while the backend accounts for the formal indicators in the response and is updated on a yearly basis, just as the detailed tax code is updated yearly. This is the first step - creating a visualization dashboard allowing the analysis of key data and trends to enable the National AIDS Council (NAC) and national rapporteur in each country to use their data rapidly to influence policy and programmes.
We want unique and new concepts so we encourage only using the sketches and screenshots of existing exhibits for guidance only. It is critical that the visual clues & overall navigation theme be consistent across the entire application. Please review the attached User Experience Requirements and the Requirements Summary documents for a detailed explanation of the GARPR Dashboard requirements and vision. We are looking for desktop and mobile views of the new dashboard.
The Global AIDS Response Progress Reporting (GARPR) system is the core, global online tool for country reporting of data about the AIDS response. GARPR has been in production for 4 years, with the 2015 version bringing a robust and responsive platform for data entry and the 2016 (current) version providing the tools for the latest indicator set. Each new version of GARPR has focused on ensuring reporting against an up to date, comprehensive set of indicators and on improving the speed and performance of the core tool for data entry. For 2017, an update to the core platform to reflect the new indicators is required, in addition to the visualization capability described below that is required for the national rapporteurs.
Options that will need to be considered based on the UX design and specification will be whether to develop custom tools, or whether an existing data visualization suite would be a better platform issues to consider will be overall speed to deliver the product, lowest possible maintenance requirements and whether there is an ongoing licensing requirement for the tool.

Competitors are encouraged envision the dashboard and add or modify the suggested screens as necessary. In simple terms, don’t limit your submissions to the screens below and / or feel free to change or modify the screens as your design requires.

- Ability to publish entire report, selected indicators/topics or specific topics
- Format choices, links to google, Microsoft, Pages and other relevant publishing applications. Be creative here. Helping the rapporteurs communicate the story of each indicator/topic is critical to the success of the dashboard.
Offline Home Page
- How will the dashboard perform where internet connections are weak or absent?
- What functionality can be utilized in a connectivity situations?
- A reduced subset of features and functionality should be assumed - show how the dashboard would look and perform with weak or absent internet connections.
Offline Indicator / Topics Details Page
- Similar to home page view in weak or absent internet connection mode.
- How will the functionality of the indicator/topics detail page be handled with weak or absent internet connections?
- Be creative, access to the data and visualizations in these situations are crucial.
Keep all screens consistent and make it easy for the client to visualize how the rapporteurs will navigate within the application.

Important:
- Keep things consistent. This means all graphic styles should work together.
- All of the graphics should have a similar feel and general aesthetic appearance
- Focus on the user experience! Focus on the navigation experience. Keeping consistent visual elements.

- Please consider responsiveness while designing your solution.
- Desktop Size: 1280px width and height as required.
- Mobile Portrait Retina: 750px x 1334px
- The dashboards will need to run on a desktop and mobile (phone).
- Make sure you create graphic in 'shape' format, so when we resize graphics everything will still look sharp!
Branding/Colors:
- See the UNAIDS branding guidelines.
- The client is interested in new and model design and therefore will be open to some variations to the brand guidelines, but only where it clearly aids in the user engagement & experience of the dashboard application. The designer should provide a rationale for deviating from the brand guidelines.

Target Audience:
National rapporteurs and personas described in User Experience Requirements in the Annex 2 section.
Judging Criteria:
- How well you plan the user experience and capture your ideas visually.
- Cleanliness of your graphics and design.
- Overall design, UI and user experience.
- Consistency across the UX/UI
- How well you interpret the example screens and requirements and show us compelling ideas and concepts.
- Meeting of the functional and nonfunctional requirements -- this tool needs to be visually appealing, yet be designed to function in low- and middle-income countries with poor and sporadic internet and 3G connectivity.

Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase, you may be asked to modify your graphics (sizes or colors) or modify overall colors. We may ask you to update your design or graphics based on checkpoint feedback.
