Challenge Summary

Welcome to the Dinnaco - Request List Dashboard Design Challenge! In this challenge we are looking for your UI and UX ideas on how to take existing generic table based dashboards and data and create a much more compelling, visually engaging, and user friendly dashboard.

Round 1

For round 1 we need the following screens:
- 01 Significant Risks Dashboard ("Internal" and "External" user flows/ designs)
- 02 Adjustments Dashboard ("Internal" and "External" user flows/ designs)

Round 2

For round 2 we need all screens with feedback.
- 01 Significant Risks Dashboard ("Internal" and "External" user flows/ designs)
- 02 Adjustments Dashboard ("Internal" and "External" user flows/ designs)
- 03 Entity Tracker Dashboard ("Internal" and "External" user flows/ designs)
Background Information
Our client uses SharePoint to display basic information on the status of their projects to their customers in the form of dashboards. This challenge is to make these dashboards much more visually appealing – neater, cleaner, more intuitive, modern and fresh.

It is expected that the dashboards will be developed as a SharePoint add-in and will be displayed within a frame in the client’s SharePoint site pages. Because of this, the existing client SharePoint header and navigation menus are retained and any designs of dashboards should show only limited further menu options to fit with the clean and intuitive UI brief. It is envisaged that a user will select "Dashboard 1", "Dashboard 2", or "Dashboard 3" from the existing main menu to view the dashboards being created in this challenge (as set out below).

There are 3 dashboards that our client would like to include in this challenge, although more may follow at a later date. Details on the purpose and functionality of these dashboards is set out below along with images of the existing dashboards used.

User Experience/ Requirements
The dashboards will need to have a different UI depending on the user - i.e. our client’s own team will need a different UI to that of their customer.

Let’s call our client’s own team "internal users" and their customers "external users".

Internal Users:
In general, internal users will have the following user experience:
- Able to enter the detailed information used for the dashboards in a draft environment
- Able to review and quickly edit the information once entered
- Able to make notes against each item for collaborative discussions
- Able to turn on/off the visibility of each item to the external users (i.e. show/hide each item)
- Able to export the data into a well-designed report for offline use

External Users:
Whereas, in general, external users will have the following user experience:
- Able to view the information in the dashboards

You need to design both views Internal and External users.

Other general user experience features expected:
Sort and filter by the main field headings
Custom pagination (e.g. 10, 25, 50, 100, Show all)

Dashboards/ Required Screens:
01 Significant Risks Dashboard ("Internal" and "External" user flows/ designs)
This dashboard enables our client to share with their customers the status of work being performed in investigating a set of risks that are present in the customer’s business. It is expected that there will be around 5-15 risks in the dashboard.

Required Column Headings and Data Fields are included in the challenge documents
Example of the existing Dashboard is included in the challenge documents

We would love to see some creative solutions in how this information is presented - a basic table like the existing design example is a useful style of presentation to provide an overview (and we would expect to see something like this as part of the solution), but we would also like to see creative ways of summarising the data by different fields, perhaps using the space at the top of the page to give the user an instant overview.

02 Adjustments Dashboard ("Internal" and "External" user flows/ designs)
This dashboard enables our client to share with their customers a list of financial errors found during investigations. It is expected that there could be around 10-50 such errors in the dashboard.

This dashboard also requires a numeric total of the items (i.e. a sum of the columns that hold numeric data). This total should be presented in the following ways:
Total for each numeric column regardless of what is filtered ("Grand total")
Total for each numeric column only including items that have been filtered ("Filtered total")

We would love to see some creative and intuitive solutions of presenting the numbers. Perhaps as graphics above the rows of data, so the users can immediately see an overview of the errors by filed (i.e. by Entity, Location etc.). We are open to your ideas and concepts for how to best display the information

03 Entity Tracker Dashboard ("Internal" and "External" user flows/ designs)
This dashboard enables our client to share with their customers the status of work being performed on a number of different parts (or "entities") of a wider project. It is expected that there could be around 1-100 entities in the dashboard.

This dashboard has an element of a "workflow" driven by the "status" field. We want the user to immediately have an overview of how many entities are at each status and any linked information of use so please think creatively in how to present this information.

Branding Guidelines
- We have an existing app that these designs will fit into. You should be using those designs for basic branding items, colors, fonts, etc. However, we are NOT looking for basic tables or to just "clean up" the current dashboards
- We are looking for new ways to organize and present the content based on the data/ information in each dashboard.
- You can use Open Sans Font from here: https://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/open-sans

Screen Size Requirements:
Use the current designs for reference on the appropriate screens sizes

Support Documents:
1) Current-Designs.zip
- Remember, you are NOT to just copy the current table styles and format and apply the new data.
- We are looking for NEW ways to display, interact, and work with the new data.

2) Existing Dashboard Examples & Example Data.pdf
- Use the Sample Data to build out your new dashboard
- The current dashboards should be used as REFERENCE ONLY. Do NOT just copy these and apply the current design style to them.
- We are looking for NEW ways to display, interact, and work with the new data.

Judging Criteria
- How well does your design align with the objectives and requirements of the challenge
- Cleanliness of your graphics and design.
- Overall Design and User Experience relevant to the data
- New ideas and concepts
