Challenge Summary

Welcome to the "GE Receipt Optimization Dashboard Mobile Design and Refinements Challenge ". For this challenge, we are looking to leverage the results of our first design concepts challenge and continue refining the Receipt Optimization Dashboard by designing the Responsive Mobile experience.

This project is focused on GE looking for innovative ideas for a dashboard that will allow buyers and management to keep track of key dates for their material shipments and also gain insight into whether moving the date of receipt up or down in time will have a positive, negative or neutral impact.

This is a refinement challenge! Make sure to use the provided design and focus on creating a great Mobile experience!

Challenge Details
The goal of this challenge is to create the "Mobile Experience" and provide design refinements for a dashboard that will allow buyers to keep track of key dates for their materials shipments (eg: wind turbine parts, blades, towers, gearboxes, etc) and also gain insight into whether moving the date of receipt up or down in time will have a positive, negative or neutral impact on GE's cash flow. 

The app should be able to forecast/highlight the dates where we are currently expected to receive material but it has potential to postponed to further push out cash. This is an easy logic. Ex (If a supplier has 30-day terms. When GE received material from them we have 30 days to pay the supplier) So if we expect material on 3/1/2016 we will have to pay on 3/31/2016, This would be a cash payment in the 1st quarter. However, if we were to accept the material on 3/2/2016 we will have to pay on 4/1/2016 which will push the cash out from the 1st quarter to the 2nd quarter.

This site will allow managers to keep track of their accounts and be alerted when there are opportunities to beneficially change the timing of their materials shipments. Users will be able to search for material shipment records and view a calendar that will display key dates and key weeks for the various shipments.

The most critical thing is to quickly and easily allow a user to search/filter for the content they need and then be able to track the results that are important to them.

Mobile Considerations:
1. Prioritizing Content for Mobile
- The same content of the desktop view should be present on mobile.
- However, we must give priority to the core functions of the app.
- Priority is: 
--- Showing by supplier the top opportunities and the critical dates.
--- Total dollar value of opportunities within the month/quarter/year.
- The calendar is also very important. Users must be able to easily see key dates / timelines.

2. Content that can be de-prioritized
- This is a responsive application, so all of the content from the desktop version should be present but does not need to be displayed as prominently as it is in the desktop version.
--- Keep everything in the app but things can be moved to a less important place.
- We are looking for your creative and thoughtful solutions for how to access the same content as the desktop version while adding much greater simplicity.

3. Calendar on Mobile
- Timeline view. We must have a timeline view created for mobile. We are asking that you also create the timeline view for desktop.
- Monthly calendar view. Monthly views are difficult on mobile as very little information can be displayed. Monthly calendar view should be present on mobile but Timeline should be the default and priority.
- Think of Google Calendar app schedule view. Note that the daily details do not matter to the user; what’s important is the ten day span of time. Figure out a way to highlight the timespan of each opportunity.

4. Interactive Prototype (InvisionApp)
- We would like for you to create a clickable prototype of your mobile designs so we can better understand the interactions / flow.

Questions to think about:
1. What is the process that a user takes to track a shipment? How do different shipments get added to a user's calendar (Do they see everything and filter away results they do not need? Do they only see shipments that are important to them? Are results displayed based on a set of filters the user applies?). We're looking for your ideas on the best user experience that will allow users to be kept aware of the shipments / accounts / vendors / people that are important to their job.

2. Can we provide useful information and statistics to users that give them additional insight into the status of their accounts? Example: are they healthy? Are there opportunities to take advantage of moving shipment dates? How much money have you saved the company? Looking for your creative ideas on what types of information could be displayed to users based based on the types of information that would be available from tracking materials shipments.

Useful Background Information:
- How Shipment Timing Benefits GE Explained: The app should be able to forecast/highlight the dates where GE currently expects to receive material but have potential to postpone to further push out cash. The Logic: Ex: (If a supplier has 30-day terms. When GE received material from them we have 30 days to pay the supplier) So if we expect material on 3/1/2016 we will have to pay on 3/31/2016, This would be a cash payment in the 1st quarter. - How Shipments Are Handled: GE buyers are responsible for a certain type of material. The material we typically receive are quite large and are shipped via boat or train at shipping docks. There is a separate interface where suppliers submit an invoice when the material is delivered. GE is then responsible for accepting and acknowledging the receipt of the material. They buyer is in charge of this process. Thus if a buyer will be able to communicate with the supplier that we can receive the material until a certain date as long as it doesn't impact other operations.

Design Goals
- Simplicity, Make it easy for a user to find the results they're needing.
- Calendar Tech, We may use a specific calendar UI (http://angular-ui.github.io/ui-calendar/). Think beyond what is possible but know that your design may need to be simplified to work with this technology.
- Read only, Users will not be adding data to this site. All data will be loaded onto the site through an external source.

Screen Requirements
Desktop Design Updates
01. Calendar Timeline View

- Design a timeline view for the calendar. It is suggested in the current design but has not yet been designed.
- Think of Google Calendar app schedule view. Note that the daily details do not matter to the user; what’s important is the ten day span of time. Figure out a way to highlight the timespan of each opportunity. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.calendar&hl=en

Use the desktop screens as guidance for your design. 

01. Login Screen
- The user will need to log in before being able to use the app.
- Formal login form needs to be provided in this screen (username, password, login button, etc) 
- Provide "Forgot password" and "Remember me" features
- Show some interaction to handle wrong credential scenario
- Show GE branding in the apps, for ex. Create app logo or GE logo? 

02. Dashboard Screen
- After successful login, user will be redirected to their dashboard screen
- This screen will show summary information about the application activity and the user’s recent activity
- Goal is to optimize how/when the user should receive materials.
- Taking into account when/do user need the materials.
- User will be able to view all information such as:
-- User latest activity (log history)
-- View Summary of material status 
-- List of Material link to see the material details
-- Any pending activity that needs user attention.
-- Insight/Forecast about some material and their impact to the company?
For ex:
---- If we receive material jan 1, in 30 days we need to pay.
---- If we receive material jan 10, can we have a cash impact the next month?
-- What are the critical dates where we can influence cash movement.
-- Goal is to push it out a quarter. Where are opportunities to move payment out to the next quarter.
-- Alert and notification about material information status?
- User will be able to find any data easily from this screen. Provide some ways like filter, search, sorting features that can easily help user to find data in the apps.
- What kind of dashboard features can be added here? Gave us your thoughts!!

03. Advance Filter Screen
- While user can search for any data easily in the apps from dashboard, there should be a way where user can search for some specific data with more specific criteria.
- User should be able to search/filter any data from the apps using the following criteria:
-- Buyer
-- Vendor/Supplier Name
-- Critical Dates
-- The priority is a user should be able to select their name and see the suppliers only related to them. 
- User will be able to see the supplier name, the date that they should strive to optimize material receipt( meaning if a supplier has 30 day terms 3/2/2016 is the date they should strive to receive material for in the 1st quarter. Typically on average you can only move material by 2-3 weeks. So any material expected to receive 2-3 weeks before 3/2/2016 should be highlighted as an opportunity for the 1st quarter).
- What else filter criteria that we can add here? Show us your thoughts!

04. Calendar (month/week/day view) Screen
- Once user click search or filter the data, the application will show the data result using calendar/timestamp view.
- The calendar should highlights critical date and week by supplier
- Calendar specific to buyer segments (MSD, Indirect, Services):
-- MSD indirect and services are the cateorgies used by the business when they think about material. MSD stands for Material ship direct where material we purchase get sent directly to the customer site when ready and is assembled there. 
-- Indirect are other smaller parts such an generators and gearboxes. 
-- Services are material that is ordered specifically to repair already established wind turbines.
- Real time PO data to provide updated opportunities
- User can click on any date to see more details information about the data information 
- Display the result in three different view (Day/Week/Month)
- Calendar specific to buyer segments (MSD, Indirect, Services)
- The Critical Week will be 10 days before the critical DATE. So any material with a "Need by date", 10 days before the critical date would need to show
- User should be able to simulate the following search result interactions:
-- Show multiple suppliers result using calendar form with highlighted key dates with different supplier name on each date result. 
-- Below the calendar or on the side you should be able to see a list of all opportunities. This includes supplier name, material type, current expected date to receive material, part number, etc. 
-- All of this data is provided in one report..If the buyer clicks on the calendar date they should be able to see the selective list of material that has an opportunity as of that date.

05. Detail results Screen
- User will be able to see details information about material here.
- Basic information like material content, stock, supplier, etc can be added in the top area
- There should be some forms where user can do simulation about material output.
- Once user do the simulation, there should be a result appear to show the best insight that user can choose for the material shipment decision

Screen Sizes
- Desktop: min 1280px width and height as required.
- Mobile: Mobile Portrait Retina (2x Size) Portrait (750px x 1334px)
- Make sure you create graphic in 'shape' format, so when we resize graphics everything will still look sharp! 
- Consider your design for responsiveness for future consideration.

Target Audience
- Buyers: Using site to track their shipments. Looking to see when/where payments can be moved to better align with end of quarter. The buyers are the only ones that can own the process to receive material but management can help push and hold accountability. The buyers are the face to the suppliers
- Management: Using site to track overall health of buyer's accounts. Gain additional insights into where timing of shipments can be changed.

Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024px JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it.

Submission File
- All requested contest requirements/screens as JPG or PNG files at 72dpi.
- Submit an InvisionApp URL as part of your submission.

Source Files
All original source files for the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Illustrator and saved as layered Ai file OR in Adobe Photoshop as a layered PSD file.

Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase, you may be asked to modify your graphics (sizes or colors) or modify overall colors. We may ask you to update your design or graphics based on checkpoint feedback and instructions.

  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.
