Challenge Summary

Welcome to the "IBM Cognitive - Weather Sales Performance Analytics Dashboard Wireframe Challenge". The goal of this challenge is to plan and wireframe a dashboard that leverages cognitive thinking and technology to help business users understand the overall effect of weather on sales for different business units and materials. We want to users to be able to open their analytics dashboard and quickly get contextual information and be able to take action based on the information provided.

We are looking to wireframe dashboard concepts and interactions that are intuitive, informative and easy to understand using cognitive technology and interaction techniques.

Looking forward to seeing your solutions!

Round 1

Submit your initial wireframe solution for a checkpoint feedback - Desktop
01. Dashboard incorporating cognitive technology
02. Map - drill down view
03. Cognitive Features - make sure you cover this part since this is what we are looking for.

Notes.txt: any comments about your wireframe for the client

Round 2

Submit your final wireframe solution plus checkpoint feedback - Desktop and Mobile.
01. Dashboard
02. Map - drill down view
03. Cognitive Features - make sure you cover this part since this is what we are looking for.

Notes.txt: any comments about your wireframe for the client
Challenge Description
The goal of this challenge is to create an interactive and intuitive dashboard wireframe for monitoring and predicting risk associated with weather changes by leverage the use of cognitive computing in your design. We want you to think about how to bring this futuristic process into the dashboard to help business users handle their day-to-day tasks. This is a wireframe challenge that is focused on "concepts" and potential interactions.

The key feature of this dashboard is how weather data affects the provided business data. We want to be able to provide any business data (retail, food, beverage, manufacturing, health & fitness etc.) and to see how the weather dashboard helps the user understand its effects on their business.

In this challenge, we want you to focusing and using cognitive technology while thinking and planning the wireframe.

This should be a fun challenge to explore and learn about new technology and how to plan UI/UX for cognitive.

Challenge Goals
We are looking for Responsive (Desktop,Mobile) dashboard wireframe that leverages cognitive computing from provided information. We would like to see both Desktop and Mobile in ths challenge.

Challenge Considerations
Important: We are looking for NEW solutions using modern "data visualization" techniques! One of the key items we want to visualize is how a user will tap/click into the data and see the visualization of secondary information.
- Keep the experience visual and interactive
- This application will consolidate data from Weather Company for IBM® Bluemix® which is a specialized service designed to uncover and quantify the precise relationship between the weather and business performance.
- Focus on concepts around introducing cognitive into this dashboard and replacing existing/known interaction patterns.
- Interactions should quickly draw our business users attention to areas that need additional focus.
- Set clear visual clues that will be used throughout the navigation experience.
- Focus on trends (year over year performance), benchmarks, etc wherever applicable.

Cognitive Features
Below are potential cognitives features you can consider for your dashboard. Take your time to research about it and remember to not think what feature will work and which is not, BUT think HOW to bring this human interaction in this dashboard.

Weather Data

Retrieve and Rank

Important Requirement:
- Keep things consistent. This means all wireframe styles should work together.
- Keeping consistent visual elements - from signal, to understanding, to action planning.
- The wireframe will need to be responsive and will run on Desktop, Mobile
-- Desktop: 1280px and height adjustable
-- Mobile: 750px x 1334px
- Please keep in mind that ultimately we will be building a responsive web application.

Suggested Screens and Features
01. Dashboard
- Show (modern) map showing weather impact locations that allows the user to click into the map to explore and find information/filter details on the drill/click/tap view.
- Show dashboard data modules/widgets for the market you have chosen: Some examples:
-- Category YOY (Year of Year)
-- Category Region (Allow for a simple filter to change region?)
-- Category by Period
-- Store-Level (Placeholder)
-- 2D Weather Impact
Note: Some of the modules might have simple filters in the dashboard (see the data/what might make sense to filter in a dashboard view)

02. Map - Drill in view
- Ability to Tap/Click/Drill in the map
- Need to have some Notification/Alerts that able to notify Account/Territory managers based on potential Incremental Sales impact of weather fluctuation for respective territories
- The application should have the ability to drill down sub-territories, Accounts, Stores, Restaurants/Bars etc
- Ability to pass on data information to the Supply planners and S&OP systems for necessary adjustments in the supply chain planning (share, export, import data features to others)

03: Cognitive Features
- What other pages or interactions are you thinking about?
- Research different markets and think of what might be useful for that market in the dashboard, drill-down, detail view.

Target Audience:
- Business users
- User looking to plug-in their data and mash it up with our weather dashboard.
