Challenge Summary

Welcome to LSK Logo Design Challenge!

We need your help to come up with a brand new logo for a transportation company. It’s a challenging competition with a nice amount of concepts and ideas provided by the client to help exploring the available options to create the company branding.

Best of luck!

Round 1

For your R1 deliverables please submit following items for client review:
1) LSK Logo
2) Branding Information
3) Purpose/meaning Note

Round 2

Final design will contain all following items plus any updates from client feedback:
1) LSK Logo
2) Branding Information
3) Purpose/meaning Note
The primary goal of this challenge is to design a unique logo for this transportation business. The logo is to be used for a logistics company. The logo will be used as web, print and company apparel media. It will mainly identify our brand and help to ingrain us in the minds of those we do business with.

Concept Goals
The logo must convey stability, professionalism and a hint at a forward looking logistics company. It has to portray simplicity and sophistication all at once. We’d like it to project an evolving company that will be around for the times. It has to show we are solution driven and committed to our customers. We haul all sorts of products. 90% is US mail, so dry freight. We haul refrigerated goods, flatbed goods, oversize goods and will add specialty goods in the near future.

As for the style, we think it should be sophisticated yet powerful and still have a little bit of fun in it. Possibly something with a hidden meaning in it like the FedEx (arrow between Ex), Toyota (spell out name through symbol defragmentation), Amazon (smile and stock everything from a to z).

Key themes/concepts that would be useful to convey with the logo include:
- Reliable.
- Tech-Savy.
- Driven.
- Over-delivering.
- Life-changing.
- Adaptable.

We admire the fact that companies have the official logo and then a more recognized symbol that goes with it. We are aiming to have a similar approach, such as Toyota, Honda, Hirscback (has the H and then the actual logo). The trucks are all over the country and want them to be instantly recognizable. We want people thinking ‘LSK’ when then they think in transportation or logistics.

Requirements
1) LSK Logo
- Create the logo concept (s) on CMYK color mode. It must be created as VECTOR artwork so it can be resized without a loss of quality. Make sure your logo quality is not diminished when scaled up or down.
- Create a logo version as ONE color.
- Create a logo version as FULL color (several colors).
- Show each logos on a white and black background.
- The logo should encapsulate the message of the logo design within three seconds of the first glimpse. Anyone who sees your logo for the first time should retain that image in their memory.
- Logo must read “LSK Logistics”. You are allowed to use uppercase, lowercase or any font styling you can suggest.
- Be careful with gradients, as they will not be able to be easily reproduced across all media. You are allowed to use them on the full color version, but make sure it will nicely translate to single/flat color.

2) Branding Information
Provide the color palette of your logo (color CMYK codes and samples) plus font specs.

3) Purpose/meaning Note
Please provide us a graphic note with the meaning/purpose that will help us understanding your logo.

Note: A template like this sample could work for gathering all the requirements. Feel free to follow it or to come up with your own presentation as long as it contains the required items above.

Branding Guidelines
- Preferred colors are black, orange, green, red, blue (burgundy).  It shouldn’t be
too conservative but can’t be too fun just because of the nature (just a bit). We are open to suggestions.
- Typography is open to suggestions.

References
The following mentions are samples for reference. DO NOT COPY ANYTHING, as we’d like to see something NEW.

Logo references we like: as Hirscbach, FedEx, Old Dominion, Estes, Lowes, Toyota, Acura.

Logo references we DO NOT like (too plain logos): Xtra leasing, JB Hunt, TA Travel Centers, Cabelas, UPS (especially), Walmart.

Target User
Brokerages, government agencies and transport managers at manufacturing facilities will be seeing the logo. On the web it falls down to any visitor looking for a transportation company to provide them services.

Judging Criteria
- Completeness: does your logo meet the requirements as stated within the challenge?
- Quality: does your logo look fresh, professional, and clean? Is the composition/layout well done? Have you used typography in a meaningful way?
- Concept: does your logo present a new and interesting concept? Is it simple, yet memorable?
