Challenge Summary

WhatTrivia has a huge library of questions that we use in our bar trivia and private events. Currently everything is managed from an excel sheet, and we're beginning to hit maximum restricitions in excel row and column size. This project will build a new administration panel to manage and groom questions, and in the future, associate questions with events to be sent to the hosts in the field.

Please see the attached excel sheet example.

Excel Sheet Description

  1. Sub Category - added as a column but isn’t really used
  2. Category - one per question
  3. Question & Answer are self explanatory
  4. Question # - This is the original question id.  It is weeknumber.questionnumber

We're looking for a design of a single-page management system to replace the excel sheet. We have an existing event management system, but no question management system.

Important features:

  1. Data layout - must be able to see a lot of information at once
  2. Configurable columns, Expanding rows - Show/hide columns of event locations, Windowshade rows to see more data on that row.
  3. Easy editing - Excel-style inline click-to-edit
  4. Search/filter panel(s) to find questions quickly

Additional / New Data Points

  1. Questions will have a deep revision history. Every edit of a question will create a new instance of that question. Events tied to questions are tied to the instance of that question at that time.
  2. Tag Cloud - There will be multiple categories tied to a question.
  3. Question type - Currently all the questions are Question/Answer. There will now be a question type property to identify:
    1. Input
    2. Multiple Choice
    3. True or False
    4. Spelling
    5. Final

Event Creation

Currently, when we have a new location, a new column is added to the excel sheet. In this new system, you will create a location, and an event at that location on another page (outside the scope of this wireframe). But you will select events to "work on" and they should enter some sort of flyout on this question management page. Think of it as multiple shopping carts on a retail website.  You can select a question, or drag/drop a question on an event to add it. You would then click on that event to edit the questions tied to that event (outside scope of this wireframe).

Please read the challenge specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this challenge. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.
