Challenge Summary

Welcome to the "RUX - 5Day - HLS Diabetes Story Visualization Design Concepts Challenge"! This is going to be a pretty unique challenge, but hopefully fun! Our client is looking to visually tell the story of a Diabetic-Asthmatic person. The general idea is that we will use a combination of a "choose your own adventure" type of user experience mixed with a timeline based narrative. Ask questions in the forum, as I'm sure there will be some :)

Have fun and good luck!!

What is a (5 Day) RUX Challenge?
The RUX (Rapid User Experience) challenge uses the same format as our famous LUX Challenge except it is not "Live" at an event. The RUX Challenge Series provides you with an opportunity to show digital leaders from some of the largest companies in the world just how good your concept and user experience (UI/UX) design skills are.

RUX (Rapid User Experience) challenges are fast, fun, and have more chances for you to capture prize money! This RUX is unique in that it's running for 5 days instead of the normal 3 days. The best part, the prizes and number of placements are still the same, just more time work!

Note: You do not need to have RUX challenge experience to join this challenge - Just jump in and give it a try! Make sure to follow the challenge details, the challenge forum, and ask questions.
Background Overview
The goal of this challenge is to design an engaging experience that tells the story of a Diabetic-Asthmatic person. This will be presented during an event on a large display. So think of it more as designing a series of screens that all link together in Marvel App to create an experience the presenter can navigate through the share live.

We want to tell the story of a typical person's day that has Diabetic-Asthmatic. Throughout their day there are 3 key moments or “Key Events” or Touchpoint that we will be highlighted and serve as our main screens of the visualizations. We need to design a way for the user to navigate and explore these Key Events/Touchpoint.

There are other sub-events that happen between the 5 main “Key Events” that we should try to visually represent in some way. I am thinking of some kind of timeline that represents the entire day with the 3 “Key Events” marked on that timeline. Imagine something like a video editing software timeline. The user, in this case, can select key points along that timeline, but also move around the timeline to other events that happen at other times between the 3 Key Events. We need a way to visually represent and design those additional "Sub Events". Show us your ideas and concepts for the best user experience, interaction, and UI for these areas.

It's really important to keep in mind that this is being presented through Marvel App. We are not developing this as a "working" website, so your design solution should be able to tell the story without a lot of complex user interactions and should rely on what's possible within Marvel App.

Challenge Goals
  • Design an engaging experience that tells the "day in the life" of a Diabetic-Asthmatic person
  • Visually represent the "Key Events" (1-3) throughout the day
  • Represent or visualize the Sub-Events that happen between the main Key Events in some way
  • We can visually represent the Diabetic-Asthmatic person and events through illustrations, icons, etc. I would try to stay away from stock photos as much as possible as I imagine there will be a lot of images required, and we want to have a consistent look and feel across the visuals
  • Your designs working using MarvelApp as the "presentation" tool. Make sure you are aware of the limitations of MarvelApp and design your experience accordingly

Documentation
Content Copy Document
  • This document outlines the 3 Key Events as well as the other events that happen between them
  • The text marked as "background information" doesn't necessarily need to be included. If you can find an elegant way to represent that or allow the user to read it, that would be great.

Screen Requirements
1. Landing/ Home Screen
  • This is the main screen once the user accesses the experience
  • Should outline the patient (Diabetic-Asthmatic person) and give some details about them
  • Should visually represent the 3 Key Events in some way
  • Maybe start to represent the sub-events that happen between the 3 Key Events?
  • Allow the user to organically move through and explore any of the 3 Key Events. We DO NOT want this to feel like a linear experience where the user has to go through the 3 Key Events in order.
  • This is a design concepts challenge, so we are open to your ideas!

2. Key Events 1: 6:00 AM - At Home
  • This is the first Key Events
  • Remember the user should be able to access any of the Key Events at any time. They should not have to explore the Key Events in order
  • All of the copy and information included in the copy doc does NOT have to be shown on screen. This is just for you to understand what is involved for the person at this time of the day
  • Maybe the additional information could be represented as additional things to click on to open? We are open to your ideas and concepts here
  • The text marked as "background information" doesn't necessarily need to be included. If you can find an elegant way to represent that or allow the user to read that, bonus points!
  • Would be good to explore ways to represent show the other Sub-Events that happen between Key Events 1 and 2, for example. The 6:30am, 7:00am, 8:00am, etc. events

3. Key Events 2: 12:00 PM - Doctor’s Office
  • Same process and execution as Key Events 1 could be used here (and with the other Key Events)
  • BUT, it would be great though, if each Key Events screen could be slightly unique to add some visual interest. Maybe the time of dictates the color palette or background imagery/ illustration (7 am vs 10 pm, for example)
  • The text marked as "background information" doesn't necessarily need to be included. If you can find an elegant way to represent that or allow the user to read that, bonus points!
  • Show us your ideas and concepts

4. Key Events 3: 2:00 PM - Retail Pharmacy
  • Same process and execution as the other Key Events could be used here (and with the other Key Events)
  • BUT, it would be great though, if each Key Events screen could be slightly unique to add some visual interest. Maybe the time of dictates the color palette or background imagery/ illustration (7 am vs 10 pm, for example)
  • Would be good to explore ways to represent show the other Sub-Events that happen after Key Events 3 until the end of the day. Sub-Events 4:00pm - 10:00pm
  • The text marked as "background information" doesn't necessarily need to be included. If you can find an elegant way to represent that or allow the user to read that, bonus points!
  • Show us your ideas and concepts

5. Sub-Events
  • How do we design a UI and user experience for the user to show and see the other Sub-Events that take place in between the 3 Key Events?
  • This is a big part of the overall experience
  • Show us your ideas and concepts for the best user experience here.

6. Presentation Screen - 1920x1080 (16:9 Ratio)
  • In a RUX challenge, this screen is the way to showcase your concept so keep it simple and make it look good!
  • If you were walking into a meeting and needed to sell your idea - use this screen to showcase your concept.
