Challenge Summary
Recently we ran a competition to create an iPad application concept for an insurance company. It helps inspectors to collect sensitive loss data (FNOL) that their customers suffer on their properties.
For this competition, we need to create a sketching/drawing tool to allow the inspector to create a quick mockup of the house, as well as other small design updates.
Best of luck.
Round 1
Submit your design for a checkpoint feedback.1. Draw Tool
2. Reschedule Appointment
- Please provide a MarvelApp Presentation (see details below).
- Make sure all pages have correct flow! Use correct file numbering. (00, 01, 02, 03)
Round 2
Submit your final design plus checkpoint feedback.1. Draw Tool
2. Reschedule Appointment
- Please provide a MarvelApp Presentation (see details below).
- Make sure all pages have correct flow! Use correct file numbering. (00, 01, 02, 03).
The goal of this challenge is to design the look and feel of the sketching/drawing tool of the existing iPad application and to perform extra design updates.
We are providing the existing files, workflow, rough mockups and requirements for you to think of an efficient way to deliver and capture information.
Supporting Documents
- Original Design Files: Sketch files (you can use Sketch only for this competition).
- Mockups: a basic rough example of the drawing tool.
Background
We are an insurance company. We want to automate our claims process to make it easier to adjust a large scale amount of claims. In a typical quarter we might get approximately 5,000 claims per quarter. However, when a catastrophe hits, we have approximately 25,000 to 30,000 claims occur in a month. The problem is that all insurance companies are experiencing an uptick in claims so getting claims adjusters to a house is a huge challenge. We want to create an app that allows us to send a home inspector to a house and take required photos and measurements.
The most important and valuable features of this application should cover:
- Registration.
- Task Allocation.
- Photo and scanned Document saving.
More information in the previous challenge - spec (not required to compete here, but just in case you want more background).
Screens Requirements
Overall
- Show hover/active states for buttons, dropdowns, breadcrumbs, errors/success states, elements with interaction, etc.
- Be sure to keep consistency across the design updates.
1. Draw Tool
See provided mockups. Please consider this is a VERY ROUGH draft, we’d like to see your ideas around this design problem.
On the claims details pages (screens 19_InsuredDetails.png and 25_Forms.png), add a link/button to create the sketch.
Design for sketching tool should be landscape - full screen.
It should display some sort of tools bars as well as the prominent call to action buttons “Save” and “Cancel” (goes back to claim details page).
The tool should support the following features:
- Free-Finger drawing.
- Shape drawing (default shapes: square, circle, line, arrow).
- Color picker (for lines).
- Erase.
- Undo/Redo.
- Scale (gesture? scale component?).
- Text (Label).
- Save.
- Dismiss/Cancel.
Create the necessary amount of screens to showcase how the tools work. If possible, step by step from selecting a tool and applying those changes into the drawings.
2. Reschedule Appointment
On the claims details page (screen 19_InsuredDetails.png), let’s show what happens after clicking the “Cancel” button and add a new button, “Reschedule Trip” (probably below the cancel one - at your will).
Cancel Trip
After clicking Cancel, there should be a popup or confirmation message “Are you sure you want to cancel this appointment?” with “Yes/No” buttons.
Reschedule Trip
After clicking Reschedule button, display a calendar and mechanisms to reschedule the appointment to another day and time. Show then the claim details page with the new date.
