Challenge Overview

ATTENTION MEMBERS: This contest will have a subjective review scorecard

Challenge Objectives

  • Create an app in React Native that is directed towards Insurance domain users.

  • You will make use of our client’s UI Kit when creating the app, in addition to creating your own UI elements.

Project Background

  • The project initially was about creating a React Native based UI Kit for our client.

  • The UI Kit is now ready. We are now creating an app as a Case Study for our UI Kit.

Technology Stack

  • React Native with Expo (v0.55)

Code access

  • There is no initial code. You are writing an app from scratch. You can use the Create React Native app (with Expo) or write a standalone React Native app that can be used on both Android and iOS devices.

  • However, we will be sharing the UI Kit in the contest forum. You will need to include the UI Kit in your app and use the components that it provides.

Individual requirements

1. Create an app in React Native (Major Requirement)

  • Create an app that is primarily meant to be consumed by prospective Insurance buyers and Insurance holders.

  • There is no design for the app. You have the creative freedom to come up with your own layout for the app.

  • We will share a document in the contest forum that describes the behaviour of the app in detail. The description is only meant to guide you. You are not expected to implement everything described in the document. That said, your app should restrict its pages and features to what has been suggested in the document.

  • You will use React native version 0.55 only, since that is the version the UI Kit supports.

  • Follow our client’s branding guidelines when creating your app. This is important since our client intends to use the app as a case study for their UI Kit and the branding guidelines have to be met.

2. Use the provided UI Kit in your React Native app (Major Requirement)

  • We will share a UI Kit in the contest forum.

  • You will create your app (for requirement 1 mentioned above) using the components that the UI Kit provides.

  • You are still free to implement any additional UI components as you need (that meet the branding guidelines), but using at least 28 out of the 35 components is a must.

Deployment guide and validation document

  • Provide a Deployment guide with instructions on how to deploy your app to view it on both iOS and Android devices. If you are using Expo / Create React Native app, then mention that as well as remove the default README.md and update it with simple deployment instructions

  • Kindly provide another document describing the workflow of your app, as in, how to navigate your app to view all the pages that you have created and provide screenshots of the pages. Although not necessary, it is also useful if you can mention the components in the UI Kit that you have made use of.

Important Notes

  • The contest uses a subject review scorecard. The passing score is 50 out of 100. You will get a passing score only if your app has met the major requirements and qualifies as an app that can be showcased.

Final Submission Guidelines

  • Upload your code base as a zip file. Kindly ensure that it has a deployment guide.
